What are the good and bad of using fletching tape vs. gluing? I thought I would give it a try if the results for others have been successful for others.

I've only ever used it on mylar spin wing type vanes and that was pretty standard. What type of vanes do you want to use it on?

Tape works awesome on feathers. I’ve never tried it on vanes. One pro is that it is instant, I think you could use tape and tip and tail to prevent it from pulling. Tape defiantly comes off much easier than glue, however I shoot lots of feathers through my recurve target and most break apart before they come unstuck.

I have great success with it on feathers but none on trad vanes (use AAE glue). It can be tricky at first and not having super short fingernails helps. It holds great but I have been able to pull a single damage feather off and put a new one on in its place. I've only used Bohning tape. Good luck.

God Bless.

I am not sure about the type of vanes that I am going to go with. Just looking around, I saw that the IronWill vanes come with the tape and was just wondering what the benefits were.

Where are you seeing that the IW vanes come with tape? I'm not seeing tape in the description at all. I have some and they didn't come with tape. They are recommending Loctite 406 super glue or similar.

BBob. You are correct. I miss read the description.

I have tried fletching tape with feather vanes in the past and switched to glue. The tape can difficult to use, hard to separate the protective film from the tape and harder to remove residue from arrows when re-fletching. I don't see any advantage to using tape instead of glue.
