i have a canon 600D with kit lenses but i'm seriously looking at getting the tamron 18-400mm lens for it. my friend has this same lens but on a nikon body. something that never occurred to me with this lens was the flash shadow it creates with the pop up flash on his nikon. no doubt i'd have the same problem with my canon. this has lead me down the path of researching flashes.
so far i like the look of the canon 270EX II speedlite. it's compact and light which is important as it will be going backpacking with the camera. i'm no pro photographer and have no use for big flashes. the big 18-400mm lens basically renders the pop up flash useless so i just need a basic flash to work around this problem.
it seems useful that it can be used remotely too.
any other suggestions i may have overlooked?
