FL Origin Hoody

if you’re looking for a different camo pattern for the Sitka fanatic hoodie, this seems to be the one.

Sure looks similar to the strong fleece 260. I’m a sucker for a zippered kangaroo pocket. That price, through….

It’s not much different price than everything else similar from kuiu or Sitka… 10 bucks difference between the strong fleece 260 and origin… not significant, and worth it to me to not have a trendy kuiu pattern…

I really don’t like Sitka and kuiu camo patterns, not because they are less effective, but because they are just so trendy… solids are my preference for them, but I like my fleece hoodies to be camo because I’m always wearing them Turkey hunting and calling big cats… the 2 scenarios I think camo is beneficial

That specter camo looks versatile. Kind of like Sitka SubAlpine. This isn’t grid fleece, so I’m curious as to how well this breathes for a midlayer.

This does seem to be a blend of the Sitka gradient hoody/heavyweight core hoody. Not the first time that FL has basically copied another high end company, just like their belt, it suspiciously looks exactly like the Arc'teryx conveyor belt.

Everyone copies everyone in the hunting clothing industry… There is only so much revolutionary ideas for a fleece hoodie, they want their share of that niche, can’t really blame them.

I’m glad there are options

I just scored a brand new Sitka Traverse Hoody for less than they want for this (and its warmer, most likely better-made). I’d wait until people move on from these and you can get them for a discount.

Now, the Klamath for $100 seems like the best part of then coming out with this hoody.

I hope it’s not comparable. I had a traverse. It’s much heavier than this is supposed to be. More of a mid or earlier out than the traverse it’s a definite outer. At least in the scope I was trying it.

I have a Medium Klamath in Fusion - id sell that to ya for $100 TYD.

Ha! I’m good.

Any reports on this Origin Hoody from those who ordered one?
I sold it already LOL but i like it! thumb holes are a nice touch, facemask isnt cumbersome and sleeves a nice length. Fits like a normal FL medium

Mine will be here Thursday. I’ll try to put together a “ as I use it “ review if anyone would be interested

I’ve had one for a few months. I love it. The material is similar to Kuiu Strong Fleece, just a little softer. It’s got great warmth for a midlayer, nice DWR treatment, and a great athletic fit. It’s not going to stop wind at all, but it serves well for an outerlayer when active; I pair it with a wind stopping vest, often. The features make it very versatile. I don’t think it dries quite as fast as other mid-layer options, but the fabric is much more durable than something like the Ambient from Sitka. The zipped kangaroo pocket should be standard on all hoodies, in my opinion. The best comparison is to Kuiu’s strong fleece 260; it’s softer, a not quite as warm. The origin hoody is silent. I think it excels for a whitetail layer.

Thanks for the feedback…between the Origin and Kuiu sf 260 which one would you say is better for going through brush

The Strong Fleece 260 is more durable. In fact, they don’t make it anymore, but the Kutana Hybrid Jacket is my all-time favorite backpacking piece for that purpose…the strong fleece sleeves and the light insulation.

I view the Origin as more of a turkey/whitetail piece. Versatile layer, quiet. Not sure I’d be going to it for a backpacking trip because there’s other pieces that are lighter or more versatile.
