Throw personal bias and whatever brand loyalty you have aside, which of these two is warmer. Firstlite Klamath or Kuiu Strongfleece 260?

Strong fleece 260 easily. I’ve had both, still have the strong fleece. The Klamath is a grid fleece like the Peloton 240, neither of which I find to offer much of any insulation. As far as warmth I’d even definitely rate the Peloton 200 as easily warmer than the 240, and for the weight I’d even rather have the 97 than the 240.

Thanks guys. What about the strongfleece 210, is it warmer than the Klamath and the 240? How much warmer is the 260 than the 210?

IMO yes the 210 is warmer than the Klamath and Peloton 240. I have it as well. Tough to quantify one garment's warmness over another. I also love the kangaroo pocket of the Strongfleece 210/260, works great with a pack on too. That pocket is a major reason I choose it for western hunting because I can put my hands in there to warm them up.

Great, thanks for the info. The Klamath is the only thing that I bring on every single hunt from August to December. I'm either wearing it as an outer layer over a merino base or a mid layer with a jetstream/puffy/rain coat over it if needed. I'm usually wishing it was warmer when used as a mid-layer which is why I started the thread. I may call an audible on using a conventional fleece and replace the Klamath with the Kutana 3DEFX and use it the same way while bringing it on every hunt, but be able to have more warmth than just a fleece.

My experience with the 200 vs the 240 does not match this ( only raising so OP has the info that folks have varied experience about the warmth comparison). My 240 is warmer than my 200 for sure. It's just a thicker more robust deal than the 200. The best thing about the 240 is how well it cuts wind. If the 260 cuts the wind just as well, I'm sure it will be an excellent piece. I don't have a 260 or 210.

Totally agree that when reaching for the 200, given the weight penalty, I usually go with the 97 instead. But neither cut wind like the 240 so that usually always comes with me.

I dont think FL has figured out good wind cutting garments yet. So if deal ing wind matters to you in this piece of your system, it might be worth factoring in.

i was bouncing around between all the same options, and ended up deciding on going with the 97 and 200. it is only and extra 1-2oz over those other options and has lots of versatility being able to wear just 97, just 200, or both together

I am looking to order the 260. How does the size run? I am 5’10” 210 athletic build with larger chest/shoulders and arms. I have a peloton 97 in XL and it fits good. Thanks

We sound like twins, get an XL. Even the XL is tight on my arms. On 2nd thought XXL may be what you need but the stomach will be very loose.

i'm 5'9" 180, with a 42" chest and XL is perfect tight in arms but not to tight. I would say this XL is as baggy as I would go in stamoch area. XXL you would swim in mid section area. Not gonna lie the cut and fit of the Strongfleece isn't the best, but it is a great piece.

Haha. Thanks man!! As long as I can get a lightweight base layer under it I’m happy. I think the 2x would be huge as most xl stuff is a little baggy around the stomach.

Yeah XL should work. I'm 5' 11" 205 and the XL is tight over a peloton 97 on my arms but not uncomfortably so.

Awesome thanks! As long as I can get a lightweight base underneath I’m happy. I don’t like baggy arms anyway. As long as it’s not skin tight. Lol

Sounds perfect! All I’ll wear under it will be a core lightweight. Does it breathe well wile on the move? Looking at this to replace my kelvin active.

I run hot and couldn't wear it on the move unless its below 0 (which that was on top of a FL Wick 150 short sleeve and a Peloton 97 long sleeve), which it was one morning this past fall. The body mapping to allow for a pack is nice though.

I’ll order one later and see what happens. They are on sale might as well!!

For my backpacking kit I swapped from a 97 quick zip and 260 hoody to a 97 hoody and the 210 quick zip for this fall, my thought being I'd like a hood at times when the 260 is too hot to wear but when it is cold enough to put on that mid layer I love the kangaroo pocket of 210/260.

I thought about that to. Does the 210 fit about the same? Yeah I want that pocket!
