Hey guys,

Im looking for a early fall, archery, lightweight, soft(ish) shell. Something lighter and more compressible than my Kuiu DCS guide.

How noisy is the FL Corrugates fabric? Is it quiet enough for archery elk? Also how well does it breathe, is it closer to a soft-shell material or like a wind shirt?

Thanks

Funny you should post this. I sold my Guide DCS Jacket because it didn’t really do anything particularly well and was fairly heavy. I have gone to a puffy and shell set up for what I do. I wear mostly merino tops so those obviously aren’t super durable. This jacket really fills the gap left by the soft shell in that it provides the durability I need for my tops while adding very little weight. It is a pure nylon jacket. I don’t know if you are familiar with the corrugate guide pants but they are the same material. There is no insulation so it doesn’t provide much warmth. It does seem to trap heat relatively well though...it just doesn’t provide a whole lot on its own, but it isn’t designed to. It blocked the cold winds very well and I was very comfortable with just a light shirt underneath. It is quiet enough for elk hunting for sure. That’s what I used it for and was never worried about the jacket making noise and I hunt where if you even look at an elk wrong they will hear your eyeballs blink lol. It does swish a bit but just don’t be a dork and Tom Cruise run through the woods and you’ll be fine. It is extremely stretchy and light. Much softer than a wind jacket. With all things First Lite it might be a good idea to order a size down for their outer wear. I wear an XL in all their shirts but a Large Unpronounceable. I ordered an XL Corrugate jacket and the arms were super baggy and the body was looser than I like. Traded it back for a Large and it was just right. The length from the top of collar to bottom of them hem was 29” for the xl and 28.5” for the large. After washing and drying it, it shrunk a half inch in length. It is just cut to be a more athletic fit with it being shorter in the front and a little longer in back. Love mine. Literally wore it every day of the season this year. Hope this helps.
