Trying to get some insight as to a solid durable fixed blade that I can kill a few with and still have a blade that can be resharpened. I’ve shot a Magnus before and after 1 shot either it broke the arrow or it was so chipped that I couldn’t resharpen it. I was thinking Strickland’s Helix but unsure.

Iron Will solid or vented. You won’t be disappointed

I keep reading that they whistle pretty good on flight though and they are like 100 bucks that’s like a dozen arrows lol

Any vented blade will have a little whistle. Ive listened to several videos of them and haven’t noticed. Also, the non vented was designed for the “whistling”. I highly doubt an animal will notice.

As far as $$$, they have a life time warranty with no questions asked replacement. They also stay razor sharp after sending them through multiple animals and unless you’re hunting steel plates that are bomb proof. Sounds pretty worth it to me. I was shooting slick tricks but bent a furrel on one last year when I hit bone. Most of those heads are one and done if you hit anything solid.

I agree with most are one and done but 100 bucks still man lol

I’ll have a quiver full in September. The money I will spend on gear, clothes, a pack, traveling, food, bow, arrow, tag, and etc, a $33 broad head is a drop in the bucket. Lol

+1 for VPA. I’m running the solid 2 blade 150g and it flies right with my field points out to 100yds and are a simple durable design.

VPA 3 blades are VERY durable and fly great for me. I just started using the CUTTHROATS and they too fly great and are very durable BUT I have not hunted with them as I have VPA's. I am a definite believer in the strength , flight , and ease of sharpening in both and will be hunting with these this season for sure.

Agree VPA 3 blade are very durable. I center punched a granite rock with one and it still spun true despite mushrooming the arrow. Would've been hard to get that one sharp again though.

With that said, not the most forgiving / best shooting head for me. Couldn't get the solids to group as well as most other heads at longer ranges.

Do you still shoot them or what is your go to Fixed blade?

I have been looking at the Iron Will, Kuiu Point/Helix, QAD Exodus and VPA.

Vpas aren't as sharp out of the box like the iron wills. I use the solids and they are by far the shit. They can also take one hell if a beating. Picture is a group at 80yds so far I'll be backing up too 100 yards in the next day or so. This is 3 solid 150gr iron wills and one field point.

No Love for the G5 Montecs here? I am still on my origal 3 pack ($40) and I've shot a couple deer with each, resharpening after each deer. I see people complain about these saying they're not sharp and they're difficult to sharpen, but that must be because they're not sharpening them correctly. I use my gatco knife sharpening stones to hone my heads and I can get them sharper than how they came out of the package. Yes, the blade edge angle is wide (60 degrees), but it's still a sharp edge that cuts well. Deer I've shot haven't gone more than 50 yards when I put it through the heart or lungs. They will break bone. They're pretty indestructable. They fly like my field points. You don't have to take out a loan to buy them. Easily resharpened...what's not to love?

My wife uses the montecs but the blood trails have been crappy for the 6 deer she has shot with them the deer this year was hart shot and went 20 yards but only had a skimpy blood trail and the deer I have shot with my QAD head had blood all over the place. This year we are giving iron wills a try
