Fix Our Forests Act

There’s 2 sales laid out minus the roads package being done and reality is one if not both might not sell due to hauling distance. If St Regis was still open it would be beneficial for the Lolo Zone. Roads packages are pretty darn big to get the haul roads back to snuff and the work that happened this year is probably all but gone with the 8 inches of rain this last week.

Talking about the same area, it will take years, but with all the timber coming online in the next 10-20 years within feasible hauling distance to the mill, an A to Z project or 6 could really be beneficial to the area. USFS doesn’t pay well being a forester compared to private sector or being a contractor and they need help setting things up. All of this bright thinking could be ruined if we get a left wing presidential admin during the next term and Tom is forced out.

If you go out in unit 10 the next 3 years, you’ll see the road work being done to get ready to hopefully cut a lot of crap out there.
Very, very encouraging news!

Why the forests spends another man hour of time on that sale is beyond me. The second Tripro closed they should have washed their hands of it. It’s not like there isn’t a plethora of commercially viable timber way closer to the customer base. The dust abatement alone will make it a non starter.

There really is no reason that your road packages are so onerous other than lack of any type of maintenance has the purchaser picking up the slack. Even then the work they want done to meet “safe to haul” is ridiculous.

I am excited about the prospect of the G-Z sales.
