I am proud to say I am taking my fitness to a WHOLE new level! Starting with the new P90X3 program and Shakeology! I am super excited to get in shape as its a very important part of my passion. The further I can climb, the further I can carry weight on my back, the further I can mentally push myself the more chance I have for a killer successful hunt! :D

Best of luck, how about giving updates.

It is amazing these days how these 2 passions mix together.

I just looked up p90x3 and that looks like a good program. I did p90 and p90 masters and a lot of p90x but at about an hour it was hard to keep it going. I did insanity and liked it and am doing t25. 25 minutes is nice. Then a couple days a week I run a few miles. I did not have time to run with the other programs so it is nice to have some extra time.

Good luck and have fun with it.

I forgot to mention that because my workouts are shorter and I have some time to run I have signed up for my first half marathon. It is a long time goal of mine.

Yeah that's what I like about p90x3 it's 30 min workouts cause that was the biggest complaint with p90x and p90x2 I did T25 also it's an awesome program! And good luck on your marathon you got this!!!

I too tried the whole P90X thing.. Lasted a few months, then got sporadic.. As much as those CDs cost I should dig it back out. Thanks for the thread, I had not heard of P90x3 or T25. Which one do you guys like better?

I found this with a quick "Bing" search:
http://www.onesteptoweightloss.com/focus-t25-vs-p90x3
Seems like T25 is simpler and more cardio and P90x3 is more "total body" (cardio + Strength) Ring true for you guys that have done these?

I personally hate working out, but I hate sucking wind after a long climb looking for animals. I prefer doing actually work to just working out, but my biggest issue is my diet. I eat everything and a lot of it.

P90x is an attractive well marketed workout program containing stuff that's been around forever.....plyometrics, calisthenics, body weight resistance exercises, and flexibility training. If you can stand tony Horton, good luck!

If i ever hear Tony Horton's voice again I will VOMIT hahahaha

P90 is great, but i lost my drive to do it myself and was not really pushing myself as hard as I wanted. I joined crossfit about 20 months ago and can honestly say is one of the best changes I have ever made.

It similar to p90, it the idea of "muscle confusion" but I find that I am able to push harder and reach more goals when I have some coaching and direction. I have met all of my closest friends in the new town I live in through crossfit as well.

Not for everybody, but I find it is a PERFECT work out for hunters, expecially if you add in a little cardio and hike on weekends.

Crossfit guy here too. I outlasted all my buddies on the mountains this year and attribute it to crossfit. Fun stuff.

"muscle confusion" is a catch phrase for periodization, which has been around since the 60's. I'd rather do p90x than crossfit. Olympic lifts to failure isn't what I would consider a "good idea".

Good luck with the P90x!

No offense, but if you think that crossfit is simply Oly lifts till failure you are dead wrong. I have done p90X, i competed at the college level in both wrestling for 5 years and football for 2.... and you are selling yourself short if you feel like all crossfit is simply oly lifting.

I completely understand that "muscle confusion" is a buzzword that is marketed by tony and the beach body crew. I was simply making the point that if you like the varied work outs from p90, crossfit may be something that you would like.

p90 is a great at home, fairly low impact work out program that gives good results and is great for people that have an irregular schedule, dont have the money for a gym membership etc. But if you really want to take it to the next level, give crossfit a try.

I like to mix TRX training in as well. Its another good home workout. My problem is I try to many different things and never really stick with one as I get bored. I get out and about enough I'm able to make this work and still stay in OK shape, but this year's sheep hunt is going to be a beast of a trip (more than usual) and I'm highly motivated to build my strength up. I've found I can always stop and grab a few extra breaths and move on, but if legs go out its a whole lot harder to recover and continue onward. My plan is to focus pretty hard on strength and flexibility the first 3-4 months of the year and then begin mixing in more maintenance and cardio to build endurance leading up to August.

I think its all personal preference. Either way whatever you choose it beats sitting on the couch. :)

Oh absolutely, I am in no way trying to put down P90 or you in any way. I was just throwing out my experience. Keep hammering, and figure out where your mute button is so you can put on your own music and just follow the tv rather than listen to terrible jokes hahaha
