Headed to Wyoming for a mid November elk hunt. Plan on bringing a rod or two to possibly do some fishing if the water isn’t frozen. Anyone have any tackle recommendations? Not a fly fishing guy, but my hunting partner is. Really only fish here is NC for bass.

Just some small inline spinners for spinfishing. 1/16-1/8 panthers, mepps, etc. Honestly prob won't be worth your time though.

November is a real "in between" month for fishing in that area. Too cold to open water fish and not enough ice to ice fish.

Depending on the weather, there can be some stream fishing early in the month, but there could could be ice forming along the stream edges, especially in the higher elevation areas where you could be hunting elk. Streams is the lower elevations can be fishable with the right weather.

The lakes and ponds may be ice free or there could be a skim of ice on them. I have even seen ice anglers on a pond near Buffalo on November 9th.

Bring along a spinning rod and a few spinners just in case you get an elk early and have some time to explore some fishing spots.

Can't say for November, but in September I've caught tons of trout on Super Duper spoons before I started fly fishing. Now I don't catch anything but I pretend to have fun doing it.

That’s kind of what I figured. It’s more of an after thought, than something I plan on doing. The gears isnt taking up any extra room in my truck.

Light weight flyrod, couple small(size 16-18)nymphs, hares ear or pheasant tail, you can dredge up just about any trout year round in these creeks.
