Hello All,
New to Rokslide, so bear with me as I learn the norms and figure it all out.
I was able to book an Ontario Moose hunt with a few buddies and we are all first time moose hunters.
This is a semi-guided outfitted hunt and we have a bull, cow and calf tag. The hunt is during the first week of October.
I’ve hunted a decent amount of big game, enough to know that it’s always good to understand the local tactics when going into a new area.
Looking for some pointers on hunting tactics for moose in western Ontario to help us e-scout and make sure we have the right gear.
Some early questions from our crew.
-Do we stay mobile and call a lot? ATV or SxS needed?
-Do we sit on clear-cuts and wait for one to feed?
-Do we pound ground on foot looking for fresh sign?
-Should we bring a boat?
-All of the above?
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated! Just looking for a place to start out prep.
Thanks!
