Colorado resident here looking to broaden my horizons. As much as I like chasing elk here in CO, I’d love the chance for an incredible hunt in NM. I’ve done my research and understand my chances as OOS is low, but I figure I won’t draw unless I put in. Just wanted some advice on how I should order a couple of my units of interest. My first choice will be 6B, but I’m not sure between units 52, 51A and 51B on which should be choice 2 and 3. I just want to maximize my % to draw and don’t want to get it wrong.

Thanks

To maximize your draw odds I think you are supposed to list the hunts in descending order with the lowest odds hunt being first. If I'm mistaken then hopefully someone with more knowledge of the NM draw system will inform.

That's correct, start with the hardest to draw tag first (should be the more wanted tag as well) as that is what they look at first. Then 2nd and 3rd.
Options 4&5 are generally left open as they are tags that aren't taken up in the first 3 draws so are essentially the tags that nobody really wants.
Not familiar with the units you listed, but the regs can easily be downloaded online and will give you the hunt codes.

The main difference in 51 and 52 is for last rifle. 51 gives u about 5% better odds. The rifle seasons in these units can be tuff especially the late ones
