So I have spent the last few days searching most of the older threads on spotting scopes and I think I want to go ahead a get my first spotter. I already have some vortex 10x42s with SLIK tripod that I use and have no complaints, but would like to try a spotting scope. Mostly a due it all scope for deer, elk, waterfowl scouting, range sessions, phoneskope, and a moose hunt I have coming up next September. Due to my work schedule I would probably use it more for waterfowl scouting and range sessions. I make it out west maybe once a year if I play my cards right for elk.
What are your opinions on a decent spotting scope for the above tasks? Budget would probably be in the 500-800 range. Those out there who are on their first or second spotter, how do you feel about straight versus angled?
Thanks
-Connor
