First Mule Deer hunt this Fall!

Headed out to Montana for my first mule deer hunt this fall with a friend. We will be hunting around Lewistown on a general tag. I have no expectations, I am not looking for spots...im simply blessed to be doing something new (althought killing big whitetails is still fun). Ive hammered OnX. Only feedback I would ask is around timing. We wanted to hunt the rut so we are going the 3rd week of November. Obviously a lot will be weather dependent, but any general thoughts on that week?

I would probably go a little earlier…10th through 17th ish. They will be doing rutty stuff all month, but bucks were actively chasing dies during that period when we were there a few years ago. That’s on par with my muleys at home too, and they are at a little lower latitude.

Yeah I wish we would have booked the week before, but its a little late for that....we are giving up first week of rifle season in Missouri to do this. We also decided to use LandTrust to lease a little private ground for the week but there will be hunters there the weeks before. No idea what we are getting into
