Anybody tried these?
I need a warmer glove/mitten. I am a diabetic and deal with diabetic neuropathy (constriction of the blood vessels)
So my hands and feet get cold really easy. I have the feet part handled pretty good. But my current gloves aren't cutting it. (cabela's pinnacle) I bring my heavy warm gloves even during summer scouting trips. If it's any where under 50 I'll most likely need something heavier. This is mainly when sitting for long periods glassing. If I'm moving and active it's not to big of a deal. I have a light pair of merino wool gloves that seem to work pretty good until I start sitting for a while.

Looking for input on the grizzlys or other super warm gloves/mitt's

Thanks, BGG

Don't know about the grizzly, but Kuiu makes a mitt called the super down mitt or something that looks very warm.

I am super happy with mine. I picked up a pair earlier this season and have finally had a chance to try them out in 10* temps. These things are WARM. They were almost too warm for hiking, but as soon as I stopped to sit/glass, they were great.

In my opinion, a huge advantage of them is the removable wool liner - way easier to dry at the end of the day, and the outer shell could be worn with just a light wool liner or no liner at all in warmer, wet conditions. Also, wasn't sure what I'd think about the trigger finger/lobster design, but the free index finger makes grabbing stuff much easier than with standard mittens.

I have both the Grizzly and the Kuiu Down glassing mittens....here is my take. Both have their purposes. Some good, some bad. The Kuiu glassing mittens are 1 of only 2 products of Kuiu's that I actually have liked (the mittens and their gaiters).

You lose basically 95% functionality of your hands with both. They are both big and bulky and doing things like getting your tripod adjusted, or unzipping your fly to pee is out of the question. The grizzly gets you little more dexterity with the fingers, but the Kuiu mittens are slick like a down coat and you can't grab or get ahold of anything. Due to the slickness, you can slip in and out of the Kuiu mittens super easy.

They both are super warm...I did not wear a liner layer with my grizzly mitts this year, but do wear a merino wool liner glove with my Kuiu down mittens. I have now had both down to 0 degree temps and wind - I think both are about the same level of warmth. My hands don't get cold in either for the most part. The grizzlies do a little better in the wind, so take that into consideration.

The FL Grizzlies are HEAVY and do not pack well. I have a Kifaru pack with a guide lid and generally just stuff my Kuiu mittens into the guide lid with my other frequently used items and zip it up. The FL Grizzlies basically take up 80+% of a 1200 c.i. kifaru guide lid...I had to stuff them down in my main backpack bag. I don't know weights of each, but its clear that the KUIU wins here.

Where the Kuiu down mittens fail are in rain or wet snow...the Grizzlies are waterproof and will withstand moisture much better.

The wrist straps on the grizzlies are awesome....perfect for pulling your glove off to use your hands, but they don't fall on the ground and get snow in them etc. I really like this feature.

So, I have both and will keep both. For day trips, I prefer the Kuiu mittens when it is dry out and the forecast looks good. If rain or snow is expected, then the Grizzlies will go in the bag. If its a backpacking trip, I will never pack the Grizzlies due to size and weight.

Thanks guys,
I'm giving the grizzly's a try. I looked at the Kuiu's and was tempted because I like light weight stuff, but water proof and durability swayed me. Cat season just started and nice warm water proof gloves are nice when your climbing around in the snow in rough terrain. Plus I picked em up on FL's sale today for $105.

Thanks, BGG
