No. Should be all right for downhill.I’m going skiing in Taos next month. Would the furnace be too hot to use as a base layer to ski at that high of an altitude?

Love my kiln.I love the kiln- but I might be using the furnace wrong. I've been using it either as a mid, or when I've had to ho a long ways so I might be sweating it out. I'll have to try it if I hunt someplace with easy access next time!
I find the same. Dress super light for the trip in, get there and add insulation after the sweat dries and then I'm comfy all darn dayNo fighting here! I have two of the Kiln tops and use them as either a mid or base layer depending on my mood. Based on the warmth to weight to comfort ratio of the shirt, I see no need to go to something heavier. I just still hunted for 4 hours yesterday in ~20 degree temps with howling winds and was completely comfortable with a puffy and softshell on top.
I'm with others who shy away from the mega-heavyweight clothing. It's fine if you're standing statue still in a stand or blind, but any degree of movement (like getting to or from those places) and I've found I'm uncomfortably warm and sweaty pretty darn quick. I'd much rather add a layer when I get settled and have the flexibility.
