Well, the hunt started the day after Thanksgiving. This was the fourth year I put in for this hunt. The 3 previous years I put in and didn't get drawn gave me 3 points. Getting drawn with only 3 points for an Arizona elk hunt is rare. The second day of the hunt, I had glassed him off the road, down a canyon. He was by himself standing broad side. I got out of the truck and walked a ways off the road until I was about 355 yards and made one shot. He took a good roll down the hill side and jammed up in some dead fall. Making our way to him was rather rough. In that unit, there are thorn bushes/trees that grow in large patches, I think they are called locus bushes, and working through it took a while. I couldn't believe my eyes when I walked up to him. The pack out was straight up hill, back through all the thorn bushes and dead fall. I took 2 trips to pack out the bull and went back for the head on the second trip. I couldn't side hill with him on my back because his main beams would drag on the ground. A situation in where I wish I was a little taller. The bull has a broken front eye guard and missing about ten inches. He scores right at 351".View attachment 43661View attachment 43666View attachment 43667Wow, can you tell us about the packout and the terrain your found him in?
