This was my youngest son’s first Boar. We were sitting on a food plot Friday evening waiting on one of several bucks to show when this boar showed up walking directly to the stand. After I verified it wasn’t one of the black bear cubs we’ve been seeing, I told him it was a big pig that he could shoot it if he wanted to. He’s always talked about wanting to shoot a big pig and he had the safety off and shot before I could even get my phone up for a video. It dropped at the shot. I asked where he shot it at since it was walking right at us. He said “well it put its head down to eat, so I shot it right between the ears.” 268 pounds with good cutters, he was pretty excited. It sounds weird to say, but this was the prettiest pig I’ve ever seen, he was jet black, shiny, without a spot or blemish on him. I wish I had the $$ to have a full body mount done. As it is we’re only able to get the teeth, apparently a .243 at 65 yds will split a skull in half if you hit it in the right spot lol.

Nice!

Hey, new here. That's a good hog. I have had the blessing to grow up and hunt the woods of South Georgia since a boy in the mid 70s. Would have enjoyed having the chance to hunt with my father as You and your son. We didn't have any wild hogs back then ,except a farm raised pig breaking free from fences now and then. But we have Plenty in Georgia now. I got into hunting hogs at night with thermals about 5 years now. Started as a invite from a friend and just fell in love with hunting them. So seeing this older thread on this forum about your son's first boar is Awesome story to me. I have 2 sons that learned at a early age to respect guns and be very gun safe. I have had the privilege to have hunted with both my boys on their first deer kills. As I have with my wife on her first deer killed when we're first married. It's always a Great story when a father is spending time and teaching his kids how to hunt. Father's or mother's can't spend enough time teaching their kids the right things in life! If we don't spend time and teach them. Then you are giving the wrong people outside your families the chance to teach them the wrong ways about hunting life! They are the next generation of hunters in America! Again congratulations on Your first but not last hog kill!!!
