Looking at hunting black bear next year for my first time. I had Alaska pinned down for the go to place. Just in case that falls through, where would one go do a spot and stalk hunt in the lower 48 with pretty decent odds? Not interested in doing any sort of bait stations, strictly spot and stalk. Thanks everyone!

If you’re interested in hunting Alaskan black bear, I’m also a fellow South Dakotan and stationed up here with the army. I’ve taken a couple bears so far. I’m no expert or professional but I can get you steered in the right direction and give you some pointers.

CO has a lot of bears and can get on them in the fall if you find the berries. Otherwise, have heard CA actually produces some of the biggest black bears in the west and might be worth looking into

I just moved into Palmer a few months back and will be hunting black bears this spring once I get residency, any advice or tips you can give me would be greatly appreciated
