Hi Roksliders,

I'll be heading out West for my first mule deer hunt this fall.
I think I've done my homework, I shoot every day, have read Robby Dennings book so much I think I can quote it, hike with weight as much as I can, and have got my gear to a point that I feel good about heading out.
I've scoured Google Earth, OnX, and think I have a few areas I'm going to focus on, if anyone has some experience up there I'd greatly appreciate your thoughts on where I'm heading.
I would never have the gall to ask 'where to go', just was hoping someone could tell me if my plan is any good, or I should keep looking.
Thanks for any insight, its much appreciated

I can chat about the specific areas I’m thinking, just dm me, thanks again!
Super excited, my Dad took a couple weeks off and we’ll be heading up there for a bit. If anything looks like we’ll get some good fishing in and enjoy the scenery.
Definitely not looking for any giants, just a good time and some meat.

Seemingly excellent habitat in beautiful country with sparsely populated deer herds.
Stay mobile and cover country, highest and deepest isn't necessarily best.

Good advice, thanks. I've got a few basins that I think we'll check out, and be able to move on. I figure the worst thing that happens is I get to camp and fish in some beautiful country with my Dad, I consider that a win.

I've hunted the north slope a bunch with variable success. I am usually looking for elk. It is super cool country and the fishing is awesome. Are you thinking of car camping or backpacking? Feel free to message me if you want a few spots to look at or have any other questions.
