I actually signed up for this site a year or so ago. Doing research for hunting gear for upland game and new whitetail and turkey gear.
Started buying preference points for Antelope and Elk in Wyoming. Now thinking I need to plan a Bear hunt.

Used to hunt a lot but sort of fell off. Picking it back up to get my kids outside. And to get myself back out in nature.

Welcome aboard.

Antelope used to be the easy entry into western hunting but that changed over the covid years. Now you need pref pts for most of the places you could draw in the random as a non-res with no pts. A bear hunt is a great option with reasonably priced OTC tags available. DIY bear is a lot harder than DIY antelope though. An outfitted spring bear hunt is a very similar experience to an elk hunt at about 1/2 the cost. Remote camps, horseback access to the camp and riding every day, it is a fun hunt.

Good to know on the experience being similar at half costs. Gives me a good adventure.
And yeah sucks on the antelope numbers dropping so much and points taking up so much more. Wish I'd started doing this earlier. But now I know to start getting my kids points now I guess.

As the self-appointed chairman of the welcoming committee, it is my privilege to extend a laurel, and hearty handshake (virtual, of course) to our new member.
