..to buy a Yeti.

I have been using cheaper coolers for the past few years and I'm tired of them being junk. The last two weekend trips I took, half my ice was melted the first afternoon in my Coleman cooler, and this past weekend, I went to a banquet in the evening and threw a few beers in an Igloo cooler I have, never opened the cooler once until the following morning and all the ice was completely melted (12 hours).

I have a few hunting trips coming up this next spring, along with a few weekends of camping in the summer, and probably more and more hunting trips to come over the next few years, so Im really wondering if I should just buy a Yeti and be done with the cheap crap and never have to worry about a cooler again.

Buy once, cry once? Or should I just get an older Coleman Xtreme that holds ice really well and use it as long as I can?

I love my yeti, it was definitely worth the investment. Remember that you have to prep the insulation beforehand in order for the ice to stay for a long time. (A lot of people do this the night before with 1 bag of ice then empty the ice when they leave and add a new bag.)

I have had mine a few years and do like it. its so durable.

the problem is you are probably going to end up with a couple though

Other alternatives, like pelican. Be lovin my 35. Do have a couple of yetis tho, 20 and 40!ounce mugs. For cold drinks they rock. Ice will last overnight. No sweat or any conductivity. For hot drinks they are ok if you still want to burn your lip four hours after pouring

Have a Yeti 125, GF bought it for me for our anniversary (lucky me!) I am more frugal and probably would not have spent the money. Have used it a few times fishing/camping and it out performs other coolers ive had by a long shot. However im not sure if its 3x better than other coolers, i havent put it to the test of 3+ days of use yet.

I have a Yeti 20 and an Orca 40. The fit and finish on the Yeti is better, but the Orca holds ice just as well and is of similarly heavy duty construction. I was able to get a good deal on a blemished Orca and saved $150 over the closest sized Yeti otherwise I would have bought the Y50.

I've got an engel. Buddy just picked up a K2. I would choose either one over a yeti for an everyday/ weekend cooler. If your putting game into it the damn things start to get so heavy I just run the colmans for 120 something. If they crack, get stained or whatever I'm not to worried.

Take a look corn fed

I checked it out.. Thanks for the link.

I guess I shouldn't have been so quick to say a Yeti necessarily, as I know there are others that compare. What I should have said was I'm fighting the urge to buy a high end cooler rather than keep messing with the $20-60 cheapies.

Check out RTic coolers. A few guys were using them at some bowfishing tournaments this year. I was impressed and they're are priced well.

Another one to check out is coldecoolers.com, I just met the owner the other day I'm working on getting a couple group buys set up with him
