I get "Christmas toe" from packing out Stone sheep a long ways in steep country. Feeling is back about 4-5 months after the pack-out. Worth it!

Funny thing is I did not get them this fall from my longest pack-out ever....Mt Caribou 17 km back to the lake we were dropped off at. Took three trips loaded with meat and camp so around 50 km loaded plus the return to meat empty trips. The country wasn't as steep as most sheep country and had a lot more mud, swamp grass and hummocks so it must have padded the shock of each step...same boots I wear sheep hunting.

I was glad to find this thread. No tingling feeling in the feet, just really cold feet, several days in a row. No frostbite, was thinking frostnip was a possibility. On day 1 wore some tight boots, swapped them out the next day without finding this thread to try for a fix.

Ended up with the inside and tips of each big toe being pretty numb for the last few weeks, and this thread sounds pretty accurate, except have not felt any tingling at the time, or since- just really cold feet and numb toes since.

Ideally the feeling improves in the toes over the next few weeks or so. To fix this moving forward, bought better boots that have some width in the toebox and more insulation to make sure there is enough room to avoid compressing the feet. Will consider how tight I tie them moving forward as well.

Was hunting in -15 to 35 temps at around 6500' - 7800'

My feet are pretty much back to normal, or at least I don't notice the tingling anymore haha.

weird...I've froze my feet countless times growing up playing hockey on lakes and ponds. To the point where I couldn't stand on them after taking skates off. Never had it or noticed any effects after...Of course we would stick our feet in warm water, cry...then head back out in a couple hours or the next day and do the same thing.

One word of advice....If your feet start getting cold while sitting (or before getting cold) loosen your boots.

I had the same thing happen to me this season... left hand fingertips were tingling/numb for a couple weeks. I read it could take up to months to regain full feeling. I found a condition called frostnip after some searching and I think it’s just a mild precursor to frost bite??
Husky will you please pm me? im interested in the pants you are selling but i dont have enough posts yet.
