2024 update on this
Federal fusions wail.

With limited experience I still had questions. How would they perform on shoulders? How about distance?
Well with this year I was able to have first hand experience with a few deer shot with fusions.

As far as shoulders. Fusions seemed to go through deer sized game and stay together. We were able to recover 1 fusion from a high sholder shot. Bullet started life at 165 grains, massive expansion through shoulder stopped actually under the hide right by the offside hip, roughly 36 inches of penetration. Bullet weighed 145 grains upon recover.

One deer shot at short range, drt. No bullet recovered. Exit hole was huge due to the ribs being drawn through the hole.

One deer shot "long" at roughly 275 yards. DRT. 150 grain bullet fired from a 308. Recovered poking out of offside. Bullet weighed 136 grains.

Boys I'm impresses.

I think given the chance to rifle hunt elk id select a 165 trophy bonded tipled bullet for the 308 or a 180 in the 300wsm, but man for the money the fusions really performed.

10/10 would recommend and will continue to use them
