Federal 6.5 Backcountry?

All you guys saying I will wait for XYZ caliber to be released in + peak alloy case , are going to be waiting 10 years because federal owns the patient! ( unless they sell the patient or decide to provide XYZ cases)

The patent for "+Peak" and Peak Alloy case technology is owned by Federal Cartridge Company (the parent company of Federal Ammunition, which is part of the Czechoslovak Group). [1, 2, 3]
Federal’s patented Peak technology features a proprietary steel alloy casing that allows cartridges to safely handle maximum chamber pressures up to 80,000 PSI. This high-pressure design yields significantly higher muzzle velocities than traditional brass without sacrificing safety
There are many alloys out there that can perform similarly, probably even better. Federal does not own SAAMI case dimension patents, so anyone can make any case in any alloy they want. Just look up NAS3 cases - they're doing it for several calibers already.

I would prefer Federal develop a load that adds 10-30% more inches to every buck and bull I shoot.
My 180 buck measures out at 200”, 300 bull measures 340.

I would pay $100 per round for that kind of performance. Then I can justify shooting past 500 yards.
You should take up fishing. Can't nobody tell you that wasn't a 50 pounder.
And likewise, can't nobody get on a ladder with a tape and measure my 160 whitetail

One of their stated reasons for LA is to have a narrower case(non rebated .470 bolt face) allowing 1 more in the mag vs magnum bolt face.

Does 4 in the mag vs 3 in the mag matter? To some, it may be a deal-breaker, IMO its a non-issue. If I cant get the job done with 3 shots then do I really need a 4th?

There is potentially a mechanical issue there as well. I think I read that as pressure in the case increases the case balloons and "sticks" to the chamber wall to some extent which lowers bolt thrust, and this grip is lower with alloy on steel compared to brass on steel(or maybe its just because the alloy doesnt balloon as much I dont recall). Maybe theres more surface area on a LA case vs a SA magnum case which is a way to get some of that grip back and reduce bolt thrust.
Hunting suppressed, I’ve had multiple opportunities to shoot more than one deer at a time. Really handy when the deer population is high and freezer population is low.

I think it’s a win. I’m glad they just improved the 6.5 creed instead of a new cartridge. You can use your 6.5 for nrl and throw in plus peak for hunting. That’s something in my opinion.

Also, what it means for current cartridges getting peak alloy. Federal, please make a 338 federal plus peak.
.338 federal would be the tits! I’d have opposite ends loaded. Subs and zesty stuff.
