Federal 6.5 Backcountry?

It’s going to be 6.5 creedmoor using the peak alloy cases. So essentially what some these niche companies are doing but from federal.

I would guess 308 is also coming.

Lots of things coming in new barrel tech and cases. If this holds, there won’t be a need for a 6.5 PRC. But just speculation of course.
A 308 would be perfect!

I mean, do you need the extra 200 or so yards this buys over standard 6.5cm? That's all it does. With the associated increase in recoil. I would venture to say an 11 year old doesn't.
It has zero to do with an 12 year old shooting an extra 200 yards.

It has everything to do with a 6.5CM being in inappropriate for elk hunting until now.

12 year olds don’t always make perfectly placed shots their first time. The +Peak in a 155gr is 30-06 territory with a rifle they can practice with and not build bad habits.

A kid will always be more comfortable in a hunting situation with the exact rifle they have practiced with.

Energy....more energy.

If a bunch of midwesterner's want to continue coming out here and wounding our elk with their need more's...I guess that is their choice.

That's interesting. So, if you had to put a max range to it, what do you think is the maximum range you'd use this +Peak 6.5CM on elk?
