M70 super grade....

although if it doesn't need to be a bolt a BAR or BLR would both be adequate with deep blueing and usually some nice furniture.

If you're willing to make some concessions on caliber Henry's long ranger in 6.5 or 308 is all american made, accurate and usually has some good lumber. Their deluxe or wildlife series are even more handsome yet.

+1 for the Bergara, my Woodsman has really impressed me. The walnut stock has a nostalgic feel/look to it from the hand rubbed oil finish.

I had a Weatherby Vanguard Deluxe but it was too glossy for me & made me feel like it was a show piece rather than a gun I'd take into the woods. Ended up selling it, was a shame since the bluing was really nice on them.

I also like the Nosler Heritage rifles. They build them right and usually use some pretty wood.

Sauer and take your pick of model. The price conscious American market has never really produced as fine a factory rifle.

To tell the actual truth, I buy Browning due to the ease of purchase and bolt handles on the correct side. They are very good and you often get a decent stick of walnut.

Man no love for the kimbers? I think my kimber 84m classic in .270 wsm is a sweet looking rifle. I have several wood/blued model 70s 1980s era but I still like the looks of my kimber.

Almost bought one in 270 Win on Gunbroker that was still new in box from the 90's. After researching I found out they weren't very popular in 270 & Winchester sent most of them back to Japan to be re-barreled in 405 Win.

I ended up contacting Winchester & they said they are coming out with another batch of them in the spring of 2020 so I put off buying the 270 so I can pick one up in 405.

I’m a big fan of the Winchester M70s. This is the newest of several that I have. All wood and blued. I have trouble resisting a M70 with a nice figured walnut stock.
