Just pulled the pin on the Duplex Hunting Frame and some accessories, already bought a Mountain Warrior a friend of mine sold me. Been playing around with it and honestly could be the best possible set-up I could think of! Daypack mode will be killer like Kotaman said, cinches down to nothing and if need the space open it up and drop it in! Can't wait to get it bloody next fall! Kudos to Kifaru for making one heck of a frame, very impressed on how well it carries a load. A pack for a lifetime of abuse and use!

I like the 22 mag, but it is so much heavier, yet smaller than the woodsman. Does anyone know if the 500D material one is lighter than the spec'd out 1000D one? I would think this pack is more like 2 lbs, not 3 ?
The woodsmen is bigger yet lighter?
Even the reconing is lighter at 2x the capacity?

I like the 22mag internal 3 mesh pocket set up, as that's all I need. Keeps me from buying more storage bags.

If you look under "Customer Questions" on the 22 mag page the Kifaru rep states the 500d version is a half pound lighter.

Gotcha. I think Snyder himself would say it's probably better to go inside the pack

He likes it in the pack when you have meat and lots of gear. On some videos he says he doesn't mind it with the smaller day packs.

Not referring to his "opinion", but what the video on that pack has him saying in its instructional tone that's all.
I am considering meat in bag, as I carry trash bags any ways (keeps bloody bag in check). Just never wanted to mix the pack items with the meat. But if I had them Kifaru storage bags that look like shiny material then that may not be a big problem and can just clean off.

For me at this point

Woodsman
Tahr
22Mag
Mountain Warrior
Argali
Reckoning

in no particular order lolololol

Yeah. Having everything in pullouts is great.

I still vote Mountain Warrior, that back pocket makes compressing the main bag a non issue but allows for space when needed.

Putting a guide lid on a tahr could accomplish the same thing.

Not trying to talk anyone out of the mountain warrior. My buddy ran it while I ran my dt1 on our Colorado trip.

I'll say the independent compression of the two new bags has really peaked my interest though. Especially if carrying a rifle and trying to get into your side pockets without unstrapping the gun.

The Warrior bag is the only kifaru bag I have. I bought it because of the big back pocket and the panel zipper. This thing is really compressible. I have line locks instead of buckles to suck the bag down tighter. I have the grabit permanently mounted and never go without it. I have a std lid with a lg belt pouch that holds all the crap that doesn't go in the bino harness.

Trick i found this year to snug up the floppy bottom on this bag:
I always carry a med belt pouch to mount to the side for the gun butt at night. When in hunt mode, I pull the baggy sides around the back and hook them together using the belt pouch. The grabit then covers up the belt pouch and this bag is a tight little package.

I had a highcamp and the horse shoe zipper of the MW is what sets it apart from the top load bags. You can't access the inside of the Tahr with the lid attached. Plus the MW is so much easier to put meat inside it, just unzip and insert, no taking load lifter straps off or disconnecting the bag. Also if you put meat in a Tahr it is a bigger pain with a top loader then just unzipping.

See, i can't stand carrying my gun on the side. I like it either on a sling on my shoulder or strapped to the front of the bag. I found that troublesome on the dt1 and the mountain warrior. That's what has me eyeballing the reckoning.

I have the tahr and 22 mag also. I use the 22 more for travel than anything, and the tahr more for training with a sandbag than anything. 22 mag is definitely a cooler pack, but you're kinda locked in to what you have with it. The tahr is overly simple, but you can add whatever you want to it ... plus you can use a guide lid with the tahr.

out of what you posted i would pick a MW as well
i have mine and it is just a more versatile pack than any on you list other than a t2 would be about the same.
i love the 22 mag, and i can haul meat with the hanging meat bag between the 22 mag and frame. it works, but i would much rather haul it in the pack.
i have a t2 internal that i have been training with lately and it is a awesome pack, with the load inside the pack it just works, that would be a great bag, if you ever plan any overnights, you will want a 5000ci bigger bag.
just depends what you are going to do.....

Mountain Warrior.

Daypack mode is dialed in and for me, there is no better:

No lid.

Bottom vertical compression straps sucked all the way in.

K Clip Compression strap on the frame's bottom tab loops. This fits perfectly just below the back pocket on the bag rendering the pocket still accessible with the strap cinched tight.

Top compression strap on bag connected to the top tab loop on the frame. I like how the angle pulls the load up.

Bottom compression strap on bag:
right: K connector to cinch down tripod
left: k connector to cinch down rifle. Butt of rifle rides fairly low in the Gun Bearer attached to the side PALS on bag.

The beauty of this setup:

The back pocket is freely accessible.

Extremely compact when compressed.

Extremely simple and effective strap system.

Independent rifle and tripod compression/fastening. The bottom compression straps built into bag serve no compression value with the K Clip strap in the frame's bottom loop tab just below, therefore, the bag's built in bottom compression straps control only the rifle and tripod attachment. I compress the bag firmly with the bottom K Clip Compression strap and top built in bag strap, then attach tripod and rifle with the bottom built in bag strap. It is soooo quick and easy.

Decided on the Tahr.
Found it in the Rhino den for $156.
Couldn't pass that up, and gives me options to day pack and 3 nighters which I will never do, but Ill have room. Ill try meat in bag finally which will be easier, but it also has a meat shelf if I want to do that. I just like what this pack does and how much it compresses and rides tight.

Now the waiting game, hope it shows before Christmas and I can use it on my Az Muley hunt in Jan.

Congrats on the pick up I think I'm going with that Argali, for all those reasons you mentioned plus if a guy wanted he could add some pouch accessories and really make a good fully functional pack. The Tahr comes with a snow lid so you don't need to add anything if you don't need it.

Yes and the Tahr allows for tons of add ons making it easily a "big bag" while allowing me the lil bag use as well.
I will use this with spotter pouch for scouting too and cameras. My scouting and camera days usually go from sun up to sundown, 10 miles of hiking, and lots of calories so this will be sweet. I use checking cameras as my getting in shape hiking as it is at 11000' and tons of vert climbs.
Looking forward to my first Kifaru set up- its been a long time in the making.

My guess, it ships this Friday or next Mon. Congrats, that is a good value. Might pickup a large side pocket on close out for cheap and add an extra spot to put gear.
