I will be doing a spike camp moose hunt in the Yukon in mid-September 2026. I also have a sheep hunt in NWT in 2029. I want to get a consensus on pack favorites. I’ll be allowed around 50 pounds. I’m leaning towards the Stone Glacier. Any suggestions on brands and sizes? I’m trying to do more hunts like this and want to have the right gear from the start.

Where to start... First and foremost I can't tell you what will work best for you. You need to do your own legwork by trying on as many different brands as possible. Once you find a frame pick the bag that will meet your requirments. If most of your hunts are guided you probably would be fine in the 5000 cu inch bag size. Have you ever backpacked before ?

Talk to your outfitters for recommendations. They are going to have the best idea of what works for their hunters. Like boots, get something that fits and is comfortable. I did two trips to Colorado for my bighorn sheep hunt this fall. Took less than half on the second trip as the first and didn't use half of that. Normally, you can get by with a whole lot less than you think you need.

Ok , start reading on here. tons of info on packs. You need to also start training . I walk most of the year with a sand bag on my pack frame usually at about 45 pounds about 3 times a week. I walk 8km. also do other leg work like body weight squats and trampoline.
