Looking for a new pair of pants to use for September elk, spring shed hunting, and general wear. Not a huge fan of camo pants. What non-camo pant do you like to wear in to the elk woods?

Every September I buy a pair of brand new Wangler stretch hiking pants from Walmart. I wear them all archery season or until it gets cold. Then I switch to Kuiu Guide pants. I retire the Wranglers to work and hiking and buy a new pair the following September.

I like the looks of these and the price is perfect to pick up a couple pairs. How’s the durability?

They are pretty durable. I’ve never torn them from being snagged on branches etc. I’ve never seen or owned a pair of pants that won’t tear on a barbed wire fence or pull fabric out. The only thing I don’t like about the wranglers is they will pick up those loose stickers. For everyday wear and easy hiking/scouting or hunting where you won’t be plowing through fields of stickers, 🤣, they’re great.

I wear Wrangler Outdoor pants every day and in every hunting situation other than deer hunting in a tree. I have 3 pairs of Kuiu Attacks and never wear them. Elk, antelope, even my first sheep hunt, I wear the Wranglers exclusively. I don’t think I’ve put in a pair of jeans in over a year. Definitely the best value out there. They hold up just fine. I think I have 8-10 pairs and haven’t put a hole in any of them. If you really wear a pair hard they’ll get the usual pilling but that’s about it.

I wear them all the time too, all sort of colors. I don’t wear any other pant except dress/suit pants when necessary. Haven’t worn jeans since I got turned into them from Rokslide.

When the pairs I wear to the office and as casual pants show wear, they become work and outdoor pants. I write a bit “D” for “dirty”on the back by the belt loop. My wife was always aasking which were nice and which were dirty, lol.

They are so durable, that I end up with more dirty pairs and toss the worst even though I could get more use out of them. If I have an odd painting job or car repair, I just get the worst pair, wipe paint brushes on them and throw them away at the end of the job.

They are cool enough in the summer of AZ, and durable enough in the cat claw and brush not to tear. Given how much use they get before they end up in the desert, I don’t particularly try to guard them. They can get a little pilling, or a thorn rarely pulls up a thread. Only torn one pair ever from crossing a fence.

The only failures have been in a couple of pairs when stitching in a couple of pockets, one crotch came out, and a fly zipper. But at less than $30 bucks a pop, I get a whole bunch of use out of them before they get pitched.

They have changed styles a little bit over the years. But, they are pretty much the same. I have had dozens of pairs over the last few years.

The synthetic wrangler pants are inexpensive, and i use them to work around the house/property because i don't care if they get torn up, a hole form an ember, etc.

Solid color Kuiu kutanas for everyday wear until it is colder, then solid color attacks, a man's yoga pants as many have mentioned.

I’ve got the 308 first lite pant. They are nice, and some old guide pants, but I’m with these guys. I’ve got 5 or so pair of those wrangler pants and they are great. I have had the stitching come out on a couple of the back pockets my wallet rides in. That’s my only complaint.

The only thing I find with the wrangler pants is every damn thorn goes right through them and I'm left with digging thorns out of my legs for a couple weeks haha

But you really can't go wrong with those pants

Ive worn them hunting and to work for 5 years now and I've never ripped a pair. The zippers eventually will break, but usually not with in a year.

I have probably 7 pairs of various brands from Wrangler to Sitka. My all around favorites are the Kuiu attack pants. They fit me very well and they're extremely comfortable. I also like the sitka traverse pants but they fit a bit more trim and they dont have hip vents or a left side rear pocket.

It's been said but I'll repeat. I've been wearing the Walmart Wrangler Outdoor pants exclusively for a few years. My one complaint is that the stitching for the back pockets seems to be a weak point. I don't normally use the pockets but it's worth noting. I have had one zipper pull come completely off the zipper. It got caught on something at a store and just popped off. I actually have not worn them hunting but will be trying them this fall during archery season. I wear the shorts too.
