A very good and inexpensive option is the Russell Dri Power 360 shirts. Wick and breathe very well!

Yeah, ditto this - I'm close enough to laundry to where I haven't pushed the multi-day stank, but I do like the short / long sleeve merino strategy - one of the lightest ways to have temperature control in a day pack

Yeah, I like the BO Merino also. I carry a long and wear a short sleeve or the reverse. Early season, may just go with my kuiu Tiburon shirt adding or deleting the under shirt on rest breaks. The tiburon is a very versatile piece for archery season, and ends up 'next to skin' when it gets hot. Great breathable windshirt that does not steam me up at all. Doesn't seem to funk up quick, either
