Favorite Early Season Tactics?

I leave for NM in 3 days for 1st archery and I’m a total waste of space until then. This is my 1st time hunting early season elk (I usually start around the 9th or 10th), so I feel like I am a little outside of my element.

Since I can’t concentrate on anything else, What are some of your favorite tactics to get a bull in range during the 1st 10 days of September?

I’ll do just about anything to shoot an elk, but I hope it doesn’t come down to just sitting water... idk if I could do that for 8 days. That’s why I quit whitetail hunting!

Cover ground, bling cow calling. And always expect the unexpected. Them buggers can be awful sneaky

Glass in the mornings and evenings and sit water in the mid day have been my best luck with the early hunt here in NM.
