Where I hunt you really can't make a move on the elk until the thermals switch. We camp up high on a south slope and we usually know where we can find elk. So sometimes we'll sleep in. Especially if we stayed up late with the bourbon shooting the longbows ![](//emoji.tapatalk-cdn.com/emoji23.png)
Though 95 percent of the time I'm up and in a spot where I can listen for elk and not be smelled.
Nothing worse than getting up when it's super dark, getting on the summit and losing patience. Start moving down that north slope a little, to have elk walking by you and even more elk below you.
