What’s your favorite mid layer for warmth when you’re still hunting slowly or stalking game in cold weather? Understand that cold is relative, for me it’s about 15F and below. Don’t need much layering advice, just wondering what your personal favorite mid layer for cold conditions is.

I've been using a Kuiu Peloton 240 quite a bit during the last 2-3 seasons. Despite not having pit zips, its surprisingly versatile. Its also available in blaze orange which is super practical.

You sound a lot like me. High tolerance for cold, relatively static hunting style. Honestly, if my midlayer is right, I don't wear an insulating layer. I just don't like the bulk if it's not necessary. For me, that looks like something that knocks the wind down and has decent warming properties. I like the Kuiu Peloton 240 or the Kuiu Border Fleece for that reason, both of which are on sale right now.

Which of those two pieces would you say is warmer? More wind resistant? Thanks.

I really appreciate the replies. I have quite a bit of Sitka gear and have never been disappointed with any of it. I’ll take a look at the Ambient. Hadn’t considered it. Anyone using the Fanatic as a mid layer? Thanks.

Ambient! I love my hooded jacket so much I have two new ones on stand by for when they eventually discontinue. If you can find a good color, don’t discount the Patagonia nano air line in various weights either. They are my #2

Last year I would have said the Sitka Ambient 100 hooded jacket. But I found it to be a little bit too warm for my liking in general. There was a fine line where I would have to stop and take it off if I had to do much more then mild-moderate exertion.

Enter the new OV Pursuit fleece; while it is substantially less warm, I found it to be pretty damn perfect hunting this year thus far in colder conditions. That hoody with the option to throw the Sitka Ambient 100 vest over it is my perfect combo.
