I was heading down the freeway to go to Bass Pro Shop to buy my license and Pig Tags when this Dodge Dayton Jumps All over my arss, so being a typical guy I jump on it. 100 MPH into A freeway interchange and my truck Dies, No sound, no noise, just dies, I did notice that my oil lamp came one just for a second before it died.
So I got a car hauler and towed It home, now getting it on the Car hauler it drove right on but had some clattering when I got Home I drove it off of the trailer and it sounded normal ?
I do have an oil leak and I was low on oil, but not engine killer low, so it is the Yukon I take on the hunt, I figure I will check the toy out when I get back. I believe that the side force of the corner cause the oil to wash to the side and the oil pump caught some air and registered a low oil which shut the truck down? Hoping ay ways.
Figure New oil and I should be fine ? other wise it is off to the rebuilders. Any Ideas ?

So...you're drag racing on a Califonia freeway doing 100 mph with an older tacoma that's low on oil. Sounds good.
Hey, what could go wrong?

Seriously, my guess is oil pump failure and given the RPMs a potentially trashed engine.

What motor and how many RPMs were you turning?

Those overhead cam motors don’t take kindly to no oil and high RPM’s.

I think your diagnosis is probably right - just low oil causing low pressure. Give the ol' girl some new oil and keep floggin' her. :)

That 4 banger taco must have been going down a mountain to get to 100 mph.

"That thing gotta hemi?" Still one of my favorite commercials.

Give me a break I know most of us have put a foot in it just to feel it again, getting in some donuts in the field that looked like it could use a plowing.
As for it getting to 100 not an issue, V6 and it has never had issue keeping up with the traffic heading out to Vegas or Barstow.
I think it has a low oil pressure sensor that shuts it down at first sign of low pressure, the oil slushed over in the oil pan enough to allow the pump to such air for a second.
Figure Ill Change the oil and filter, run at Idle for a bit and give her a go around the block and see.

Cut open the filter and look for metal.

I'm gonna say that you are still a kid at heart.

Anyway - I vote your motor is fine.

I had a CRV and the oil filter come loose on the highway - lost all my oil, was able to drive 5 miles to auto store and get new filter & oil. Drove it 500 miles immediately after that and had it for a couple more years before selling it. never had an issue.

Best advice I can give is you should stay in CA
But My summer home is in Arizona, Now that's a place you can really top a good truck out, long straight highways and all the highway patrol are setting just the AZ side of the Boarder trying to catch Calis doing 80+ going into AZ.
Relatives in Phoenix, AZ city and Tucson, in fact we have a big tado happening just after Christmas in Tucson😁

Yep I will open up the oil filter just to be sure.
