This spring is my girlfriends last spring break so we've decided to road trip it down to the Florida Keys. Figured I'd see if you fellow roksliders who've been there had any suggestions on cool places to see, eat, things to do, or any good fishing spots. Planning on doing some snorkeling, shore fishing (bringing my own gear), lounging on the beach and just some general sight seeing. We'll be camping on Sugarloaf Key.

Fish out of Bud-N- Mary's marina in Islamorada. PM me for offshore, flats, and backcountry guides. March is a good time to catch big bones, a tad early for the 'poon migration. Eat lots of conch fritters.

Wade fish any of the flats, or rent kayaks and catch snook in the backcountry.

If you go to Key West, eat pancakes at Blue Heaven or dinner at Cafe Marquesa.

The Zane Grey lounge in Islamorada and Hemingway's house in KW are good stops.

You are on your own at night in Duvall Street!

Been there a bunch. No Name Bar is cool to see and fishing is good just down the street at the no name bridge. Bring your minnow bucket and pick up some shrimp. Put them right next to the bridge pilings (you can fish off most bridges) and you'll catch snapper, grouper if you're lucky. Like the guy above said, rent a kayak and fish the mangroves, you never know what you'll catch. It's not hard to figure out key west, just beware the locals trying to pick up your girl. After the crowds leave sunset square and the sun goes down you can see poons cruising back and forth along the seawall, I've jumped a couple but they almost always come close to spooling me. Have fun

I worked for a summer trapping key deer on big pine. It's worth stopping there to see the tiniest deer you'll ever see.

Go to Robbies Marina on Islamorada and feed the tarpon! Hire a guide for a day and go out and fish. There is SO much angling opportunity. It's well worth doing a bit of research, pick the right guide and spend a day exploring and angling.
Nothing better in angling than feeding a sightcast tarpon, permit, snook or bonefish a fly. Beyond addicting.
