So with the pandemic and all that malarky, I made my first visit to the optometrist in 8 years. I am 68 years old still have great eyesight, or at least I thought so. I have been wearing bifocals for about 20 years now. I wear the glasses full time so as not to loose them. The tops are glass and the bottoms are readers. Anyhow, I went to the optometrist and during the prelim test I noticed my left eye was having issues with the tests. After the initial tests and they took some pictures of my eyes, I saw my Eye Doctor. She had me look at the eye chart and started with my right eye and I read at 20/25 and then she had me switch to my left I and that's when I realized something was very wrong.

When I put the paddle over my right eye, the chart became nothing but a white blur, could not see the letters or anything. That's when the Doctor explained that I had a cataract in my left eye that was interfering with my sight. She also said I had one in my right eye that was developing. She told me that in about a year I would not be able to drive.

She is in the process of setting up an appointment with a laser clinic that is an in and out procedure lasting about 10 minutes for the first eye, then a week later I will go back in and have my other eye done. She also stated that I will be amazed at how much sight I had lost when I get both eyes done.

Just a reminder that we are getting old.

Good luck going forward! Eyesight is precious and I'm starting to get fuzzy and holding on the best I can. I need to go back as well, had a very light prescription and had a hard time adjusting then somebody stole my fancy custom outdoor glasses off a picnic table at a campsite and I took it as a sign to procrastinate longer. :ROFLMAO:

I hope the surgery helps get you back to good sight! I missed a chance on a buck this year as I did not have my distance glasses on, (stubborn) I could see his ears but only saw his forks when he was running away. By Elk season I had gotten new glasses, without any darkening so I can see in first and last light. I can now see great at distance, live and learn.

I have a cataract but not bad enough for them to fix. I see them in a cpl weeks so will get an update then. I see them every year, I see my primary care every 6 months. Will be 70 in a month.
