Exterior board and batten siding

I have my boards nailed up and it's time for my battens. Battens are a full 1" thick 3" wide. What nails should I use?

None....predrilled hole and exterior grade trim head screws.

I would use a 15ga finish nailer with Galv nails. Or use GRK Trim head finish screws if you don't want to invest in a new finish gun. You will not need to pre drill with the GRK. You can get them at Home Depot.

I would nail that up with my M-18 finish nailer and gal nails.

What material? Impossible to make a reccomendation without knowing.

Wood? Probably 2 3/4 ring Shank coil nails.

Engineered products come with specifications, follow them.
