I’m wanting a Day Pack I can haul meat with
Looking at
Exo K3 3500 (not sure about new bag sizes but something comparable)
SG Solo XCurve
MR Pop Up 28

All I’ve ever had was a Crooked Horn Day Pack and a Badlands 4500
I’m in need of a serious upgrade
I’m in my mid fifties now and multi day Back Pack hunts are over for me but I still want something that can haul an elk quarter out as comfortable as it can be
I’m leaning towards the new Exo but the SG with the XCurve just sounds more comfortable
But am I overthinking it and the MR is really all I need
I still get after it pretty good but clearly physically not what I once was
I run the canyons of West Idaho for 2 to 3 weeks every year so any advice, input, information would be greatly appreciated
Really enjoy reading all the knowledge that is shared here at the “slide”
Thank you very much

I was in the same boat. I needed a bag that had super support for my back.. I’ve had badlands 2200,many cabelas bags. Eberlestock just one pack.. looked at MR,Kifaru, stone glacier and SO, exo. I’m a bigger guy.. so contacted all of the companies. MR was almost maxed out the waist so didn’t want a extra strap for the waist belt. Exo said should fit, SO would fit as would Kifaru, SG.. then came the options.. didn’t like the fact that Kifaru, exo you needed to buy extra parts for using the frame as just a hauler. SO was almost there just wanted forward assist belt.. to suck everything tight for my back issues.. that left SG.. picked up the evo krux frame first.. after contacting them. Loved it.. and then picked up a sky archer bag.. the bag is 6200 which is the bag that fits any and all my needs. As a day bag it sucks down a ton and then can blow out to do over night trips... my frame and a empty bag is sub 5 lbs. and is bay hunt is less then 20 maybe 18 if I choose lighter items... I would do some home work and go with your gut most have a 30 day return.. throw some wt in them and see how they fit.. if they don’t fit well.. send them back and try another company.. the boys at SG we’re super helpful for multiple emails...happy shopping.

Back shape plays a huge roll in frame comfort I believe. I have no butt and a flat back.. evo krux frame is super comfy..

The MR would probably work ok for hauling meat but I don’t think it’s in the same league as Exo or SG

I have the MR 18... couldn’t be more impressed. Nothing against the other packs, but for a day pack the popup line in gold standard to me. Small when you want small, crawling; and meat hauling when you want that.

I am pondering between sg x curve and kifaru tactical 26" newplex ss. Plan on finding the frame that is best for me first and then going from there forward. I like the sg load shelf but I also like the kifaru because of the height adjustability of the load lifter straps.....and I like the side attachment points on the frame and think the cargo net will be as good as or better than the load shelf. The grab it also looks good for a load shelf. That kifaru frame has a pretty good curve to it also but it hard to compare to the sg x curve because sg does not have a profile picture of the x curve on their site. Obviously I think I have a curved back....:D

Got to think it thru....here is the link to the kifaru frame that I like, opinions appreciated....frame

I would check out the Seek Outside Peregrine 3500 as well...I know the frame is extremely comfortable, and the bag looks perfect for long days. There are a bunch of great reviews on it. It would be my first choice for a dedicated day pack, meat hauler.

I have the SO Goshawk and I love it.
