Just curious.. Looking for a way to carry my shotgun for Turkey season.. Do you guys just stick it in the side pocket or have something else rigged up?

Pics would be nice!

When I had mine, I just stuck the butt of the stock in the water bottle pocket and strapped it on with the side compression straps.

Outwest,
When you carried your rifle like this could you still use the side pocket for things like folded up trekking poles, tripod or tent poles? Also could your reach the side strap/unbuckle it and access your rifle without removing the pack?

Thanks!

I use a Kifaru gun bearer also and I can access my waist pods with no trouble. Way better than a sling in my opinion.

I used a stone glacier because I don't like how the kifaru rides under your arm. Worked really well. I actually carried my rifle on my left shoulder or I. My hands and had my shotgun In the sling. Saw some turkeys so leaned my rifle against a tree pulled the tether grabbed my shotgun and shot a turkey as it walked past.

Were modifications needed to use sg rifle attachment on the exo pack? Seems like a great way to go.

If I remember right, there is a little room left because those side pockets were freaking huge. You can probably fit tent poles or a trekking pole in there but a tripod would be iffy depending on the size. I did have to take the pack off to get to the rifle.

I added one 1" tri slide because the stone glacier sling only comes with one since the top one is pre sewn on the Krux frame. Just attached to my two side compression straps after removing buckles to put the tri slides on.

Consider the country your hunting also. As pictured above, putting it in the side pockets with long rifle you will be sticking up pretty high. This is a huge no go in the thick country where I hunt. The Kifaru gun bearer is awesome for these areas. This also puts the gun at the ready position should you see something on your way into an area or are still hunting your way through the timber. Now, if I'm on a long pack through some open country prior to season opener and having the gun immediately ready is not a concern I may use the side pocket and then move it the gun bearer when desired. I also moved the KGB to my bird vest for a few hunts this year. Most of the time you won't want your shotgun in this while bird hunting. Though it is fast to get the gun out on a flush you would need to be a lot better than me to get a double on some chukars!! I did get it out and get a surprise flush single or two but a double was out of the question for me. It's biggest advantage is while ascending a rock face or a long trek back after you get a limit. I will be ordering a second for permanent attachment to my wingworks vest for sure.

Strapped it to the back, same as with my bow. No issues.

I use a kifaru rifle bearer but also use a Slingsaver because it allows you to carry with the rifle over you shoulder because sometimes I get tired of seeing the rifle barrel in front of my face
