I'm wanting to order the load panel/ beaver tail for my 2015 Exo 3500 but I'm wondering if I run only the load panel without the bag can I still use the lid. If so how does it all attach.
Some pics would also be great.

I'll be out of town through the weekend but if you email me I can get you some pics of this on Monday. [email protected].

You can attach the lid to the Beavertail but I just need to know that's what you want to do when you place the order to make sure you have the buckles needed.

Here are some pics of the Frame / lid / and Load panel. All you need is to replace the 3/4" female buckles at the top of the load panel with females. When ordering up the load panel just put in the order notes that you need the males and we'll include them for free.

The total weight is 3lbs 13oz.

Thanks for posting this Steve. I'm going to order some then. Also, can you take a picture of that pack holder you made? I need something like this bad..Ha!

I was hoping they would have that smaller 2000ish ci bag available by the end of the year.

We're working on a smaller pack design, but we want to get it right vs. just getting something on market. You're patience will be rewarded. ;-)

I'm torn between the Exo and the new Kifaru Hunting frame. I love the Exo bag design, but I'm drawn to the Kifaru frame for robustness and comfort under heavy load. I've never had my hands on either so I have to rely on reviews and great forums like this to help make my decision.

Is there a decent description and/or photos of exactly what makes up the Exo frame? I see material on the unique Titanium skeleton frame but I'm wondering what else is inside the frame panel. Is there also a plastic frame sheet like on a Kifaru? If so, how thick is it and does it cover the entire frame panel? If not, what helps it hold its shape?

Anyone that happens to have both...would you be willing to do a side-by-side comparison of how these two frames are constructed internally?

Hi Steve,
how's progress on foliage packs?
Looking at ordering a 3500 in foliage, but need it shipped down under to Australia by beginning of February for a trip.
Is that likely to be doable?

Production is in process, hope to be shipping early January so we should be able to get it to you in time. Shoot me an email and we can get you name in line for one. [email protected]

Love this pack.. One of the best purchases I've made for elk hunting in years.. Would love to see a kifaru type "grab it" accessory as well as a Nalgene water bottle accessory would be my only "adds". I can't say enough good things about packing meat and camp with this bag. Steve and company have been nothing but first class to buy from..

What are the forum's thoughts on using this as a general backpacking pack in the summers, or for winter mountaineering?

The 3500 in intriguing as many of the "smaller" mountaineering packs lack the suspension that the Exo has. For example, the larger Osprey's have a good suspension, but the smaller ones get terrible reviews.

I've never done any mountaineering but I use my 3500 all the time for summer backpacking trips. It works great! Sure I could probably get a general backpacking pack that weighs a pound or two less but I love the way my EXO hauls any load from 15 lbs. to 100 lbs. Plus I like the layout and it's easier for me to remember how I store everything if I use the same pack for everything.

You like the layout as much as a more common "general" backpack? It looks great, by the way.

And it looks way more durable than the general REI fare.

I personally don't find myself wanting any different layout than what I have. I added a couple hip belt pouches and a mesh pocket to the lid and I'm good to go. There was a brief time years ago when I wanted more organization/pockets out of a pack but then I always forgot where I stashed smaller items and had to open 10 pockets to find it. For me this provides the perfect balance and I can now actually find everything I need when I need it. Everyone has their preferences on how they pack so you'll have to decide for yourself if this fits your needs but it works for me. If I need additional organization I now use smaller internal bags like a Kifaru pullout or similar from Granite Gear, etc. Really I only use that for 1st aid, toiletries, etc, but even without the pullouts the lid and mesh pocket typically provide enough organization for those items.
