Exo Mountain Gear K4 Pack Review ***Updated 3/28/23***

I used one of the prototype K4 7200 packs all of last fall and just received the K4 3600 to review. Most of my experience that I'll talk about will be with the prototype, but we wanted the production model included as well so I can note some of the differences. My review will post at the time of the official launch in March.

I've got one and it's the most comfortable pack I've ever owned.

Just here to say my K4 has been hands down amazing. This will be my second full year using it, and I haven't found anything I don't like about it. I have both the 5000 and 7200 bags, and have put them through their paces a few times.

Between me and my hunting partners, I've used the K4 to help pack out 2 bear, 2 mulies, 2 full elk and a few elk quarters. I've yet to break a strap or put any meaningful wear on the bags or frame besides getting them dirty and stinky.
What are your thoughts between the 5000 and 7200? Those are the two I'm in between right now.

Currently have a Kuiu 5500 cu in pack and have run out of space before, 7 day spike camp hunt, granted not UL gear by any means.

I just received my 7200 after I had originally was waffling back and forth over the 3600 and 5000. Jake talked me into the 7200 at a sportsmans show, super glad I went that route. It's only a couple ounce penalty for alot more space when needed, and sucks up super small if needed.
You do lose the u shaped zipper, which to me wasn't a loss. I do intend on grabbing a smaller bag for some of my hunts that are from the truck. Probably a 3600, but dont feel like that's necessary at all.

This is also my first "real" setup after running a horn hunter full curl for the past 8 years (a great entry bag for sure). I couldn't believe that any bag could feel this good with weight. It's shocking honestly. I have multiple low back disc issues, almost to the point of needing surgical intervention, and this thing is still comfortable. Cant wait to get it heavy this fall.

If you're running out of room with the 5500, I would definitely go with the 7200. The 5000 works great for multi day hunts without a ton of gear, and I use it 75% of the time. I bought the 7200 for a 10 day third season hunt where we were packing all the food, tent, stove, etc. You can get creative and get some more space out of the 5000 by using the load shelf to hold food or flat items.
