Can anyone make a comparison in the overall carrying capacity of the Exo 5500 and Kuiu Icon Pro 5200 bags? I have an Exo 5500 and know how they come up with their #s but don't know If the 5200 from Kuiu includes the pockets and lid.

Bottom line can you fit as much stuff in the Kuiu as the Exo, not counting those long side pockets on the Exo?

Thanks.

I've got an Exo 5500 and its bigger overall than the Kuiu 5200. I briefly had a Kuiu 5200 at one time and the Exo main bag is a larger bag. You can fit a lot more into the Exo and I believe the Exo has a better meat shelf and better frame from experience with use. I've packed the Exo in for ten day hunts and it will hold all my gear, plus haul out one mid sized animal; sheep boned out or black tail deer with bone in, plus your gear. Those animals are minus the ribs, since we always ate those over an alder fire bbq :)

If you don't count the long side pockets they don't even compare. The KUIU would be much larger. I actually sold my EXO 5500 because the access and ability to pack the bag efficiently drove me nuts. I have had a 5200 and now have the 3200 icon pro. In 2014 I had the EXO 3500. Overall for me I feel the similar size KUIU is more efficient and easier for me to pack and access things throughout the day because of the horseshoe zipper. I also don't pack a tripod and spotting scope very often so those type of dedicated pockets are pretty much useless to me on most packs.

Thanks! My frustration with the Exo is the lack of organization and I also have a Icon 3200. What's your thought on lashing a stuff sack somewhere on that 5200 if more space is needed? This is with a bow and just to pack in a camp.

I have a Kuiu 3200 on a Kifaru Tactical frame and I can drop a dry bag with camp between the bag and the frame and lash my bow to the outside.

I have two if their zip pockets that they added sometime in November last year just for that situation they come with a quick clip on each corner of the bag and easily hook to the tab loops on top, bottom or back of pack.
