EXO K4 Now or Wait for the EXO K4X

I went with the 3600 bag cause that’s generally the size I can make work for everything I have done. I hope they make one true UL bag option that is just a roll top single compartment with low side stretch pockets as the only add. That would make for a perfect light and fast set up in my eyes.

Do you remember the listed weight difference between the 3600 and the 5000? I got the second run email and I’ll be replacing my Kifaru Fulcrum with this (way to big for my typical 3-5 day hunts, even later season)

The 3600 is 4lb 11oz and the 5000 is right at 5lb from what I gathered. I can’t wait for my 3600. Then next year when the ul bags come on line will prolly snag some of those as well. Pretty sure Steve said in some podcast his protype is like 3.8 lbs! That’s insane.

So are the people that got permission to be in these first buy actually allowed to post good pictures of them or are they bound to not share information?

I get that.
Anyone try and use there rain cover or peice of tyvek as a separator between meet and bag.
Between the meat in the load shelf and your gear in the main bag, you have several layers of fabric. Not only the main/external bag fabric, but also the hydration sleeve fabric, which prevents moisture transfer. I have never had a trace of blood inside my main bag area.

We'll be sharing more in the coming weeks. And once people start receiving packs, they're free to post with their personal packs. But for now, we can't have people sharing the private link that was sent out.

That's a tiny jump. We don't need a different bag every 500 ci.
Well as they say, that's just your opinion man.
I was actually trying to buy a frame and get my own bag made from newer materials when I read about these. I may just wait the k4x out and see what they ship.

It's not my opinion, it's the reality of business. Have you seen the closeout section of the EXO website where they sell all the good ideas that nobody buys for pennies on the dollar? You haven't seen it because EXO makes products that suit 98% of users and they're not going broke trying to suit the other 2%.

Why not just use the lid(+600ci) to flex the extra bit of storage between the bag sizes?
I planned on getting the 3600 (I already have the 5000). That will allow me to go 3600, 4200, 5000, or 5600. Granted they have to be packed slightly different with or without the lid, but I’m already packing them differently because it a different hunt and would be taking different gear. The ability of going with or without the lid already hits the middle ground between sizes.

Yes, or batwings for the 2200 would be boss. Just get into camp and dump them.

Are you celiac?
I was just diagnosed a few months ago, first season with that to deal with. Curious what you are all taking for food?

Yup.
I invested in a freeze dryer this last fall. I think the majority of my meals this year will be on what I make at home with the odd Peak swapped in. I might be going as far as adding some extra protein to some peaks just to jack them up a bit.

Stevia and Oats have been giving me trouble as well which sucks. So many things have Stevia and really limits the electrolyte situation which sucks.

I get that.

Tyvek is woven and the head pressure of fluid in time will soak through it. I'm curious to see how the exo dry bag looks. I'll save 20oz out of my pack if I ditch the sealline bag but only if its not going to make a mess thank i'll pack the 1.25lbs. See when it gets here.

The frame and suspension are what I'm interested in. Something that hauls a heavy load comfortably and saves weight is a winner.

New bag materials that serve the purpose, save weight without adding a bunch of noise, and don't become too fragile are the next thing I'm interested in.

I don't really care how the bag sizes break down. If one is too small, I'll just get the next size up. Simple.

If the fabric is what I think it is, that is the easiest way to shave weight in my eyes. Same qualifier, I think there would be performance gains on top of the weight savings.

I'm surprised I don't see guys talking about keeping their currently loved K4 frame and using one of these bags.

Not sure why you would.
They made improvements to the frame as well.Plus it match’s and you know we got to match!

Based off what was shown and what is talked about on the forum about the exo system I am not remotely worried about hauling a load comfortably. It’s proven in the original.

The new bag materials are a plus for someone like myself who regularly hunts on the coast. Cordura wets out fast and becomes heavy. I thought Xpac was the solution but it’s just a better alternative to Cordura in some ways but by no means perfect. I’m looking forward to the bag material. Ever since that Terminus came out with similar material I’ve been thinking it might be a good future candidate for a bag.
