Anyone used the EXO 5500 as a carry on yet? Was thinking about trying it in a few weeks just wondering if I'm going to have problems.

Where are you flying and what airlines?
I used my osprey 50 liter pack as a carry on from the states, down to south america, and throughout and only got hassled once ( i pretended not to understand the spanish and just walked onto the plane and nothing happened...)
I would check the airlines website as it should have the specs of carry on sizes. Realistically, it is too big, but it all depends who is working the gate, what side of the bed they woke up on, and how full your flight is.
Good luck though! I hate checking bags.

I'm curious about this as well. I doubt you would get it on if you were to fly out of Minot. Everytime I fly out of there they've made me check everything except a small backpack so I never attempted carrying on my. 5100 SG.

Frontier are kind of bag jerks.. I dont think it will fly as a carry on.. also those bins on most of frontier planes are pretty small..

You might get it from ND to CO but I doubt you would have the same luck from CO to ND

anything hunting related I have been flying southwest and havent had any problems with any gear.

I've flown a lot over the last two years with my Exo and have only had one time where they asked me to check my pack. I always just wear it and get on the plane with no issues. I think technically its 1" too tall to fit in their size restrictions which most airlines are 10x16x24.

Is that a 5500? I'm flying from Tulsa to NYC in August and considered using mine as a carry-on also.

I've flown with both but when I did use the 5500 it wasn't full by any means. I imagine if you had it completely full they would make you check it.
