Surely I can't be!

Ever since I got my Tacoma I have had it loaded with every single thing I could ever need to go hunting, hiking, fishing or camping. I pretty much have been living out of my truck on the weekends and days off. I leave my bag and two pads in the bed of the truck so I can sleep wherever I want, fishing pole at the ready, my bow and arrows in the back seat and everything I would need to go back packing. Cooler with a few cold ones in case we fish, always on ice… A tote that has everything I would need if I got stuck or stranded… Binos/Spotter, cookware plus a jet boil in case I want coffee in the morning! I love it…

Am I the only one that has everything they need ready at a moments notice or have I went overboard?

I got the idea from two of my buddies who pretty much have been rolling this way with there trucks for the past few years. Granted, we all have homes that we live in during the week :)

I leave nothing in my car or truck. I know when i'm going hunting, fishing, or camping ahead of time. I'd rather spend 10 minutes packing than days replacing gear when some dude decides he wants to steal my stuff.

I am with you on this one. My truck is EMPTY 99% of the time. However, you say the words and I have my stuff waiting to go on the front step in 5 minutes.

Everything is in totes ready to go. I've seen too many sob stories on other boards about a guy who had his stuff stolen out of his truck. Saving 10 minutes isn't worth losing thousands of dollars in gear.

I have a second truck thats always loaded and ready to go. I use to trailer it everywhere. Got it registered and insured a couple months ago. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1368132007.119257.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1368132058.587963.jpg

Pack, optics, food all stay inside of it. Easier to jump in and go then having to load up.

All the expensive chit stays locked in locking toolbox in the bed. Nicely wrapped in towels so it doesnt get too banged up when im wheelin.

if its in season my truck stays pretty well loaded to go, if its off season its usually in a big pile, inside my front door ready to be redeposited in the truck

i have a dedicated "woods truck" and dedicated hunting room. i for instance now during spring bear can get home at 1:15 get changed, grab gear, get in the truck and be through the gate of the hunt unit by 1:45. ive got to the point where my hunting gear is so organized streamlined that im ready so fast i always feel like i must be forgetting something. you can call me to go hunting and i will literally be ready to go buy the time im off the phone.

I guess it depends where you live. Here in Oklahoma they are a bunch of thieving............. I would love to keep loaded up. But we have a bunch of meth-heads that cruise the nice hoods looking for loot. Had my car broken into a half dozen times. Now I sleep lightly and have a few yap dogs to keep an eye on things.

Being one of those insurance guys I never leave anything in my rigs of value. People get broken into for a myriad of items and it is a pain in the ass to have to replace items and then you have your deductible. I take the 15 min each time so I don't have to worry about it.

Where I live in Vegas it's a pretty nice area and thats where the thieves go. I've had one one of my older trucks stolen twice in one year and my new truck was just broke into about six months ago and they stole my fixed blade buck knife. I will never leave anything of value in my truck ever again.

I agree with the not leaving the truck loaded, I don. 't but its more because the ole hunting trucks got a few holes in the floor boards and sometimes I gotta chase mice out of there. ive had nightmares about coming out and finding my T1 with a bunch of holes chewed through it. but ive gotta say having a dedicated rig just for the woods is great. always cleaned out and "ready" don't have to pull tools , lunch boxes, coffee cups and all the other crap you get with a vehicle you commute to work with

Yep, just this winter my pickup was stolen off my jobsite. They made off with several of my tools, firstaid kit, Emergency kit, ect ect.
I try real hard to empty my pickup out every night... It SUCKS.

But my gear room is well organized and I can be ready to roll quickly.

Mine is always loaded during hunting season. I have a tool box I built that is in the back and a topper to give it a degree of protection. As stated, if its not in the truck its well organized in the garage ready to go.

I too have a tote ready to go, I also have a small pack in the truck just in case a short hike is in order when we are out of town somewhere.
