Everyday boot?

I'll second these. I've only had mine for about a month, but I've been reaching for them over anything else I have. I would like to pick up a pair of Moabs to save some wear on the Crispis, but these Summits are an excellent boot.

If you opt to get the Summits, be sure to put some green Superfeet soles in em! An absolute must!

My everyday boots are White’s packers and Frank’s packers. I have been wearing packers for almost 30 years. For hiking and hunting I’m still looking for the ideal boot.

Just bought a pair of Danner crag rats but I can’t get them to feel right after lacing them and going to be returning them. Looking for a waterproof boot that I can use for general outdoor (shooting, scouting ect) and early season hunting. Im in Ohio so I don’t need a super stiff sole western hunting boot. I tried on the Salomon quest at REI today but the arch was making a stabbing pain as I walked. Any suggestions appreciated!
I had the crag rats I liked them but did not love them, they were still better then the crispis I tried for my feet but ultimately felt like a kept finding reasons to reach for another boot so I got rid of them. Got a pair of hanwag banks and while I haven't started racking up many miles in them they are awesome and will not be the last hanwag I buy. I think I'm gonna stick with miendl and hanwag

Another I looked at and didn't try was la sportiva tx5 that are on sale at campsaver.com

In the same boat and always looking for a better daily boot. I also prefer a non goretex boot that vents well. Lightweight is good and I have tried several synthetics as well as leather.

I tried the vented Merrell Moab mid height and was happy for short while. They broke down a lot quicker than expected and started to hurt my feet, even after adding super feet to try and extend the life. The sole and upper started a nosedive soon after.

I switched to the Vasque Breeze mid unlined. Started just a tad small on fit but stretched in short order. They too broke down quicker than hoped. The soft sole gave up support and then things started coming apart.

Both of these were heavier than I wanted in a synthetic and were OK at ventilation but not great.

I decided to try Oboz and have been impressed. The Bridger Vent Mid is holding up well. The sole construction is reinforced but not too stiff. Good support without degrading after 8 months of daily wear. Smaller dimensions and lighter weight but comfortable and durable enough for light trail work. Happy enough that I bought a second pair for the future.

As for an all leather non-goretex with a more robust build I have been very happy with a pair of Asolo. Can’t remember the style name/number. Something like TPS 585 maybe? Probably need to search them out and order them since everyone seems to carry lined boots on the shelf. But I have used up two and a half pair over the last seven years and that includes a bunch of daily wear as well as hiking, training and 10 weeks chasing elk.

I like daily boots to be re-soleable, because it's a lot easier to pay $80 for a resole every six months than to buy a new pair of boots. I also prefer a polyurethane sole over a lightweight EVA foam because it lasts longer during daily wear and also tends to wear more evenly with my goofy stride. I have a couple pairs of Zamberlan Vioz as an everyday boot.

Prior to that I wore Vasque breezes but they wore out so quick that they contributed to some ankle problems. And they were the greatest cheatgrass magnets that humanity had ever devised.

In deep snow, durability and stability are less of an issue so I wear Oboz Bridgers. They are actually pretty badass for snowmobiling with their good heel support, and have held up to lots of wear against tunnel bolts and snowshoe bindings.

I’ve never had luck with re-soleable for whatever reason, atleast on my actual work boots. All my redwings and thorogood boots usually get mangled or holes in the leather about the same time the soles are turning into racing slicks lol

thanks for all the suggestions so far. Going out of town in a coupe weeks, just trying to locate some outdoor stores when I can’t try some of the suggestions on

I second the lowa renegade gtx. I wear them everyday for work as well with little complaints. Left boot is not waterproof anymore but most likely because I never treat them or clean them so it is to be expected. Find them on sale for about $140 to your door and it’s a steal

Love the Renegade for an everyday/backpacking boot. It's also worth noting if the Goretex fails, you can send them in, and they'll replace them with a brand new pair.

Lowa Renegade GTX get my vote. I have two pair; one I bought in 2016 and one in 2018 as a backup. Both are still waterproof and fit my feet like glove (and I have wide, flat, weird feet). Hunting, hiking, cutting wood; I use and abuse them a lot in Michigan and have been on a couple 2 week elk hunts in Colorado with them. With a 20% off members card from REI, I've got them for $180 with the year return policy. IMO, they are a steal.

Another Lowa Renegade fan here. Mine are worn daily, super comfortable, fit my feet well, etc. I'm also a fan of Keen footwear.

I wore a pair of Crispi Thors every day for almost two years for work and outdoors.
I've got about 9 months on a pair of Crispi Summits now. Can't go wrong with either one.
