Eurooptic Experience *Resolved and Updated*

I know since covid customer service is a thing of the past. I've always had good luck with a few companies, one being Eurooptic. I purchased a tikka through their sale, a 16in 308 that was threaded with adapter. I get a called from my FFL to go pick it up, it is still boxed up and in plastic but take a look through the plastic, right model, right caliber, right barrel length. I get home and pull it completely out, it is not threaded. The entire reason I purchased this model over the cheaper base t3x is because it was threaded. It was about $170 more, but where I live, it's a pain to ship guns and gunsmithing is suspect, so would be over $170 in shipping/effort/gunsmithing to get a base model threaded. Should I of checked before leaving? yes, I assumed everything else was correct so that part would be.

Here is where it gets interesting. I send an email last night explaining the issue, send the link to the rifle I purchased with threading being mentioned in the specs 2 different places, and ask them to get back to me on how to proceed. I don't hear from them in the morning so I call after lunch. Right before I call, I'm pulling everything up for reference and the link to the rifle, the description is now changed. Someone saw my email and changed the description, taking out mention of threaded barrel from two places, and then did not contact me. I call, they tell me there is no listing discrepancy and no one changed the description on the website, nothing to be done. Luckily, just from being a cynical person, last night I took pictures of the description and a video of me scrolling the link (so you could see their SKU number and description, couldn't get both in same picture). I send that to them, they deliberate for a bit, then tell me they can send me the rifle I ordered, I just need to pay the difference ($100 and shipping and another $50 transfer fee). At this point I want to just return the rifle, which they say I can. I ask them what they can do about the $50 I am out on a transfer fee, nothing, so I'm out $50 and the hassle of packing/shipping it back for their listing mistake. Overall they were not helpful and honestly deceitful, which this is 100% not the way I was expecting the call to go, I've had great experiences with them in the past.

I'm not sure the purpose of this other than I felt like b*tching and the entire ordeal was surprising to me. I'm out $50, not the end of the world, but doesn't make it right.... Thought I'd share.

****UPDATE****
Since the thread was started Nate from Eurooptic reached out to me via phone call. He apologized and said there was some miscommunication between departments and there was no intent to deceive. They are sending me the rifle I ordered as described and refunding my original $50 transfer fee. He was more than helpful and got everything straightened out.

Wow! Shit happens, that’s pretty weak though.

I’ve never done a chargeback on a CC but in this instance I think I’d give it a try. I bet the cc company would be pretty interested in the fact that they changed the description.

Unsolicited advice. Always check the gun before doing the paperwork. It is far easier to fix anything prior than after. I got to the point where I would check the gun for people because of the hassle it was.

I accidently sold a left handed gun to someone, that is when I started checking them. Saved both of us.

Another kid sold a R700 to a guy. A week later he is back saying something is wrong with the gun and the bolt wont lock down. The lugs wouldnt engage so you could run the bolt no matter the position of the handle. Good thing he caught that before shooting it.

So again, check everything.

Seems like it would be far easier for eurooptic to just refund the difference between the two costs and another 50 for the hassle and move on.

Ya, you have to check rifles entirely BEFORE you do the transfer. Some places won't even take it back no matter the issue after the transfer. I was kinda on their side until the gaslighting. That's unacceptable to lie to your customer like that. It's worse than a normal lie.
I should have looked at everything 100%. I wouldn't have posted if it wasn't for the lying and how it was handled.

That is not a good way to do business. I hope they see this and rethink their position

I know, preaching to the choir. I always do, I checked the caliber and matched the serial number through the plastic, just didn't think the check the end of the barrel. I think because it was going to be a back burner project gun for me I just didn't get super excited and pull it out and look over everything carefully enough. Lesson re-learned.

Man that sucks. It is good that they are accepting a firearm return after FFL transfer but they should cover the return shipping since it was their mistake. The FFL transfer fee is between you and the dealer so it does suck that they wont cover that. The lying is BS for sure. I would definitely try and escalate within their CS dept.

Its always good when people post things like this as a reminder to all of us.

Mostly posted that for anyone else that may read this thread.

I sent them an email with this link. I think it’s only fair they have a chance to see it and act accordingly.
I ended my call with them by saying I was going to share my experience, they didn’t seem concerned.

Seeing how they lied, I won't buy from them again. Can you go full Karen on them and ask for a supervisor?
The kid that was helping me (Kade) was nice enough, he wasn’t making any decisions himself, just doing what he was told. I was on hold most of the time while he was going back and forth with a supervisor.

To be fair they are covering return shipping, assuming I can get UPS to take the shipment, I’ve had issues in the past. If not, I’ll likely have to pay the FFL again.

USPS is more gun friendly for long guns.

If euro optic gives you a return label, you should have no issue handing it directly to UPS.

Any chance they would cover the cost of getting it threaded if you have anyone local?

I would report this to the FTC and see what comes of it.

Well just got off the phone with Nate from Eurooptic. He reached out, was super helpful, they are sending me the rifle that was advertised and refunding me the $50 transfer fee. Told me there must of been a disconnect/miscommunication somewhere with different departments, there was nothing intentionally deceiving on there end and apologized for any issues.
Thanks for sending that email @Ucsdryder and anyone else that reached out, I imagine that had a part in getting the call.
