Epoch Outdoors Mountain Mag Digiscope Review

Here is the initial review I did on the Mt. Mag. Still loving mine. Good to see they are getting some traction, it is a tough market and I want Epoch to be around when I get a new phone or optic.

I just got my hands on the epoch system after doing the mag view and also handling the Ollin from a friend. Gotta say the Epoch is by far the best system(especially for apple users) it’s incredibly minimalist but still snaps right into place quickly and has a strong hold. Then disappears in my bino harness until I need it again. Epoch is legitimately epic. Running iPhone 15 on my new Kowa 66.

Going to add a little info I grabbed from them at the hunt expo. They have their own personal app that I have been beyond impressed with for the last 3 days as I’ve been messing with it. It’s $40 for a lifetime subscription (kind of spendy), that offers image stabilization as well as allowing for specific switching between cameras. Also a level indicator and grid lines. I’ve only played with it inside but the image stabilization is really cool and just filming some things around my house really was nice.

Also of note I was having some troubles getting my stuff lined up, and I learned that it is critical that the top center magnet is perfectly vertical on the scope, or it will skew the image everytime you put it on the scope.

For simplicity, this has easily become my favorite system, and I’ve tried quite a few.

Does the Mountain Mag eyepiece add much eye relief to the Kowa 66?

I've been using the Mountain Mag for a little while now. Overall a decent approach to digiscoping. However, I disagree as the quality of customer service. I've emailed them 4 times . Twice about product info, once to purchase another item, once to tell them that one of the items in the order doesn't work correctly. The only time they responded was when I wanted them to add an item to my order( more money for them, so they responded ). All the other emails met with silence. Particularly concerning when they don't respond to the fact that they sent out a defective product. I will not spend more money at a company that won't respond to basic questions or fix the issues with their product. My 2 cents
