Any experience with Epoch Mountain Mag?

Hello Rokslide,

I lost my good old phone skope adapter and have been researching all the new non friction fit options out there.

Is anyone using the epoch mountain mag digiscope adaptor? The fact that they say it works with any MagSafe case appeals to me and it seems like magnets are the way of the future.

Thank you.

I’ve been looking at this, I’m currently using ollin which I’ve been loving. But the epoch solves the only problems I have with it, you can easily use any case and be able to take off the adapter quickly when not in use, or to use flashlight. And the ability to use either camera is a bonus.

I saw these recently and am interested in them as well. I've been running a Magview and like only having the plate on the phone, but I want something that connects faster/more reliably. My one concern with the Mountain Mag is the distance between the camera and the adapter, how much light that lets in, especially if I have my regular case on my phone.

Happy thanks giving.

It sounds like others have the same concerns as I do, but I think there is potential that the pros out way the potential cons. I will be the guinea pig. It will be after Christmas, but I am going to give it a shot and post a review.

I reached out to the manufacturer to make sure I purchase the right things. I wanna try this system out for my binos and spotter.

Once I get a confirmation from them I’m going to purchase and report back.

Binos: Leica trinovids 10x42
Spotter: Athlon area G2 15-45x65

Nice. I am going to order one for an older Swaro STS 65 and iPhone 14 Pro. I am not going all in on knockers until I am 100% convinced this is the system for me.

I'm looking forward to hearing how it works for you. I'm trying to figure out what system I want to use.

I got my mountain mag set up and have had enough opportunities to use it that I feel comfortable doing a review.

Jay at mindful hunter did a rather comprehensive review of 4 digiscoping systems, to include the mountain mag. Search "Best Phone Scope Adapter 2025" on the youtubes.

I recently picked one up and have been testing it. So far I really like it. I got a new phone in May and figured it was worth a go before investing in all the other cases and equipment.

I tried it on my swaro atc and full length tricer tripod. Good stability. I got the main camera to work and focus easily. I struggled I guess with the zoom lens as it can set two of the iphone cameras. The main camera worked great. The spotter attachment is easily removable as well if you want to use factory caps. My otterbox phone case worked fine and the mag charging is still accessible.

My only concern is this now creates 1-2 black pieces of gear that can get lost in the shuffle in a set up. I wish they were orange or something easier to see at a glance. I will be using it this fall.

There are three pieces: the eyepiece magnets, a magnetic cover for the eyepiece lens on a lanyard and the phone adapter that slaps onto the charging magnets. Will need to follow Epoch’s setup video for the iPhone Pro since the camera app settings need to be changed to switch between lenses. What we (users) are finding out is a magnetic protective case matters. The case must fit the phone correctly and the magnets need to align with the magnets on the iPhone. We know the Smartish gripmunks and gripzillas work well. Also some of the otter boxes work well. Really any quality protective case that fits well and has the magnets aligned should work. Also, a one piece lens cover on the iPhone works well.
