Embarrassing Question, lodged bullet help!

So I wouldn't post this question on any other sight but the community here is generally helpful even in embarrassing situations. I do have a lifetime of firearms experience. But I did make a serious mistake.

I work nights and drove 3 hours to closest range with some good distance. I was tired. I used a sitelite laser bore sight to set a new scope of a ruger m77 22mag. I fired it, with bore site still in. Boresight stayed in place and bullet lodged in barrel with bore sight. Have not been able to drive it out. I measured outside of barrel with micrometer and the outside is not deformed. So any suggestions on trying to remove it. I have tried the basic Dowel with brass punch on lead. But I can't remove projectile or boresight. I'll take whatever critic is due me. But would like to attempt to salvage rifle.

if all else fails , a new barrel is not that expensive. Have done a couple, converting to 17 hmr. In fact if you need a new 22m barrel have a spare around here somewere. We can work out a deal

it is the all weather model so that flat finish stainless barrel. Very likely will go that route even just for safety if you want to through a price at me.

Assuming the lodge is in the last few inches of the barrel, I would use a hacksaw to cut the bore sight off flush with the barrel ( I assume it is trash anyways). I would then use a drill bit smaller than the diameter of the bore to core out the center of the blockage. At that point you may be able to drive it out. If not, use something along the lines of a wood screw to engage the blockage and attempt to pull it out. I can't imagine needing to scrap the barrel. I wouldn't expect a 22 mag to create enough energy to compromise a barrel but I am no expert. I would guess that the gasses were allowed to escape around the bore sight and the bullet impact just swelled the material enough to bind things up.

Do what Woodbow suggested. That's exactly how we remove stuck fasteners in the aerospace industry. It works on titanium and aluminum fasteners.

Cooling it significantly can make all 3 pieces contract,/shrink. This should open up the barrel, while shrinking the bullet and the bore sight. If you can get it all in a freezer for a few hours (you might want to take the stock off), then try the dowel method again. Otherwise, X3 with what Woodbow said.

You might need to counter drill all the way through it to relieve pressure. Care will need to be taken to stay in the center. Then attempt to drive it out with a brass rod just under bore diameter.

Freezing would be my first try and then the cut off with a drill out to relieve pressure.
Should work...... at least it did the last time I saw that happen. (sorry but you're not the first.)

This is key. Wooden dowels absorb too much energy.

YES, NO wood. I just sectioned a barrel on the lathe with a cut off tool. It had a loaded round, wooden dowel, broken off jag from a cleaning rod and all packed tighter than a tennis ball in a frogs azz from a 3lb hammer. Unbelievable how that wood expanded.

hard for me to imagine with all that expansion and then driving out of the barrel, no damage to the lands/grooves. would like to see a bore scope after removal. one thing on the bright side, a new barrel is not much money and you may end up with a better shooter. would seriously consider a 17hmr over a 22 mag.

yeah so I've kinda already accepted new barrel as likely outcome. But definitely want to carry the project through and see what it looks like.

only reason I got a 22mag originally is public near me allows for rim Fire small game and furbearer until end of february. I know any rim Fire is light for coyote, 17 seems way light but I don't know that to be true.
